i've read about how many people have chosen TWM 7th gen short shifters and others have the 6th gen TRD quickshifter kits. my question is: would a 7th gen TRD quick shifter kit work fine in a 6th gen?

the reason i ask is because the 7th gen TRD quickshifter kits are $50+ cheaper than the 6th gen ones.

The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?

i've tested out the TWM short shifters for the 7th gen in a friends 6th gen and i did not like the feel at all.. it was too notchy and clunky imo... and the stick looked like it was in 3rd gear instead of in neutral..

it seems that the shifter stick from the 7th gen fits the 6th gen fine, provided that the spacers are there.. but the TRD quick shift kits include the whole plastic assembly and i want to know if that mounts to the 6th gen. i'm guessing it won't though... if not, then i'll just save up for a TRD shifter for the 6th gen..

You're kidding the trd quickshifter actually fits with no modding?

Hold on are you talking about the 7th gen trd quick shifter or just the 7th gen short shifter?

although the 7th gen and 6th gen have different chassis, doesn't mean the shifter assembly would be any different... i got his PM and said that he has the 7th gen TRD quickshifter assembly, plus his profile says it is, so...

SWEET, thanks for posting that here. Dude this means we are saving more money WOOT. Hey what do you gys think about those metal shifter bushings found on ebay? Do you guys think that will work with the quickshifter or do we even need such a thing, because we have a trd product?

It definately works. There is debate about how well it works. I remember reading a review by a board member (here or elsewhere) that in their opinion it felt a bit sloppy. But then others have said the same about the original and about ebay short shifters.
