Please take this as being constructive and not complaining. I love this site this is by far the best site I have visited. The one concern on here is how the rules in the for sale section are.

Here are the rules….

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=326

It seems that a lot of the adds have post saying “You are selling this really high” , “So and so has this for half price”, etc. I complete see that there needs and should be post to help people adjust their prices. But at some point it would be really nice to see a rule that is something like, “If you have a problem with the sellers price please PM the seller or a moderator if you feel the seller could be fraudulent”. And say if a post does get put in saying negative things about pricing, the mods should remove them if they choose.

I am just curious if this has ever been looked into. Again please take this as being constructive. I know all the mods and members take many hours out of every day to make this site the great site that it is. bowdown.gif thumbsup.gif

Thank you all

no your not being destructive; in fact that's the best course of action. There is someone right now selling some things overly priced, I and several other members reported the post and a moderator made a statement. If it was dramatic scandalzation, he would have removed the listing.

But you also have to remember that if you get riped off on this site; 6gc holds no liability. So to an extent, they cannot moderate the F/S section too carefully without endorsing / denying sales; and incurring liability. Pretty much they only shut down a thread when it's an obvious scam.

I completely understand that he or she could possibly be ripping people off but it could be a simple mistake. If you go back and look at the post now someone wants you to give them the other persons name so they can buy from them. Most people would probably be upset if someone cost them a sell. I would just like to see all the 6gc members check before they post pricing issues.

Hey thanks for coming and talking about it, I am really not trying to fuss and I am really glad you seem to see where I am coming from too.

Hey D Man,

Wow! Thank you for all that info, I was very curious what all the limitations are ( I could only imagine). I figured it would be up to the members to kind of watch the post. There is a ton of reasons for both sides of this but a simple PM could go along way in some cases.

Thanks

no, i agree with you enrider, I reported the post with ANDYSAUTOSPORT.com prices.

Pressure made a statement right on that thread, and that was enough. Pressure put down the idea, and left it to imagination.

Then the other post occurred; and if i was in special K's shoes, I'd be pissed.

I agree with you, but CeliST only made a sugestion. He didn't flame special K, he didnt say anything stupid, he just made a sugestion.

But it shouldn't be done in someones FS thread, even if they are Ripping people off; provided he dosen't scam the money; it's a legit sale.

EDIT: no dude, i wasn't trying to name names on my first post. But it seems that that post has been singled out, and i was referencing it anyway.

Correct, I agree with CelicaST if the price is high the seller and members should know. But if we PM people and then they change thier price, everybody wins.

I think that unless it's really obvious there's a scam going on, it's pretty tacky (and disrespectful IMO) to post in someone else's FS thread that something is too high an asking price or whatever. I can think of one particular instance where there was a FS thread for something that I knew was being misrepresented and IMO was WAY too high of an asking price. When someone else expressed interest, I actually PMed that person with a heads up about it, being clear about what I knew and what was only opinion.

Members should hold themselves accountable here, whether it's asking too much for something or paying too much for something. We all make our own choices (with the relative exception of getting scammed, of course). Maybe there's a reason someone's asking a high price for something, and it's not just to make more money or rip someone off. For that matter I see a fair share of posts of people just trying to get back what they put into what turned out to be the wrong part or something. If you think it's too much, then counter offer! Negotiate! Otherwise, STFU.

I agree that a simple PM could go a long way.

PMing the seller is going to help them to know what to price their item at. He's obviously new and probably don't know that we got connections. wink.gif He's not competing with list pricing; like he thinks.

I personally chose to report the post; because high prices are usually associated with scamming. I'll leave it to Pressure to sort the scammers from the "noobs w/ incorrect price ranges".

Our mod's may be nazi's sometimes, but they'll be glad to "Solve" a problem if you work with them. wink.gif (Me & Presure2 are PRIME examples of that laugh.gif ) Remember they have to govern fairly. But that's the reason Coomer chose those guys.

With that, also dont ever fight with the mods, they're going to do what they feel is right; and everyone is cool at the end of the day. (as long as you dont do something stupid and get deleted for it.) I know i'm side stepping topic with this, but someone did this recently, and it never ends well. laugh.gif There is no such thing as a 6gc.net revolution laugh.gif

but if it is posted in the thread where everyone on 6gc.net can see it,everyone on 6gc that looks at that will know that that price is to high and if another person attempts to sell something like that again at that high price they will kno that it is to expensive, thats my thoughts..

I agree but if he or she would have got a PM and then changed the price then all would be well. If they didn't then post something in the FS it is up to us as members.

Agreed, But this can not turn into a flame thread on CeliST either, that's also tacky and wrong. smile.gif So lets agree that wrong has been done; and etnrider, maybe you should PM celiST and ask him to edit that post, or Report the post so pressure can move it out of his FS thread. If CeliST wants to sell fenders, then he should have his own FS thread wink.gif Agreed.

But we're not here to flame people into the dirt

Right right, And PMing the buyer before he payed that amount, and giving him your opinion is cool too. Thats what we're all here for. There are a number of things you can do, but spamming up someones thread, agreeably, is not one of them. wink.gif

Celicast You know a member who sells parts that other members have bought and fitted and they fit perfectly and on top of that the parts are less money...I think you did the right thing...I would rather have that heads up and get a part I new fit for less money...I would be a lil mad if i had bought that bumper and to later find out I could have easily gone the safe route and bought from a reliable source and a long time member....Thank you celicast for sending members who are interested in body parts in the right direction instead of taking a chance for more money.I think you are truly looking out for 6gc members

I do agree that that sellers whole post does not have to be about how off his prices are...but i do believe at least once it should be mentions so other ppl who may look will read it..and then if they wanna take a chance go for it.

And i have to criticize you publicly now CeliST; That a good thing you did.

PMed the seller, and the other dude. Handled your business and got off of his thread w/ minimal spamming laugh.gif

But you took that constructively and I believe thats what ETNRIDER was tryin to accomplish. We've all learned something today, now lets all go get drunk together. smile.gif

and as long as ETNRIDER dont start posting threads over everything he see's laugh.gif j/k tongue.gif

I had to drive home so I was off for an hour or so, I think this was a good topic and I am glad everyone keeped it a good topic.

But could I get this answered?

So how hard is it to get something added to the rules “Asking” members to PM sellers with questionable items / prices / descriptions?

Just to help push the PM idea.

CelicaST Thanks for being a good sport, I was not trying to flame you and now have a lot of respect for you for being able to talk about this. I really didn't want to start this topic for fear of what it would turn into. Thank you all for proving this is an awesome site!!

PM Pressure, if he like's it he'll he'll make it so. You can also PM Coomer (owner), SNAPshotGT, Manfibian, or any other mods. They'll be happy to help you.

So instead of asking the seller to post the descriptions/prices/questions etc..in his FS thread the seller now has to answers all PMs regarding prices/descriptions and questions?

I dont know abt you but I dont like the idea of answering the same thing over PM 10 times.

THe FS forum is like a market place, buyers and sellers interact and communicate in the open, theres is nothing wrong with that.
