I just got my car back from the bodyshop last friday (finally after 1 year!!) but now my car is acting weird...

1st gear is ok, but when i shift to 2nd and 3rd, as i press the gas, it goes from 3000 to 6000 RPM instantly but the car doesnt accelerate THAT much... matter of fact, when i reach 60 km/h it doesnt wanna go faster, fast (it takes forever).

My GF father told me it was my clutch...

Is that true?

Thing is i wanna swap a 3sgte at the end of the summer (dont have all the money yet) so i was wondering if i could buy a 3sgte MR2 clutch, would it fit my 5sfe tranny? i know it aint the same tranny, but since they both fit the 3sgte i was wondering if maybe...? laugh.gif

Sounds like clutch to me, smell anything "out of the ordinary"? and "by out of the ordinary" i simply mean you will never be able to forget this smell as long as you live wink.gif. To answer your question it wouldn't line up, because those 3sgte swaps that run a gt tranny (the s54) use a combination of the two clutch kits..someone should be able to clarify with what exactly wink.gif

www.1sttoyotaparts.com or toyotaworld have great prices, i usually prefer the first one. Flywheel should just need a resurface and make sure you replace the throw out bearing... a lot of people neglect this inexpensive part and pay dearly later with either their wallet or time. good luck

clutches should run 2-300. I had to change my clutch too after getting my car (which was sitting also for a year, what a coincidence). And yes, make sure you replace the bearing, if your clutch is burning as you say it is already, chances are your bearing is ****ed and probably gonna melt if you keep ongoin like this for atleast a week or two.

Kinda off topic but seeing that you're from montreal, would you be interested in going to Sherbrooke for a big celica meet? It's on August 1st, look at the meet discussion thread for it.

Damn... when i think about it... i thought it was my tires that were smelling burned...

Now I understand why!!!!

I might just wait until my swap then... i dont wanna spend 100$ to get an exedy cluth and change my tranny for a MR2 LSD at the end of the summer kindasad.gif

I might give a shot at this meet but thing is my girl is going to give birth to our first child really soon... and she's ''due'' for july 31st!!

I'll see, if she doesnt come faster than what we are expecting!
