hey guys... I'll be changing my water pump and timing belt this coming weekend and I'll be following azian_advanced write up http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...mp;#entry665153
I now have 227000+ km on the car. I purchased the car 3 years ago and it was on 190000+ km I don't think the water pump and the timing belt has been replaced before then.
While I'm down there.. what else should I be doing? I now have all the parts needed like the water pump, belt, gasket, thermostat, coolant.

Getting ready for the Sherbrooke meet biggrin.gif

thanks in advanced ya'll

from the mileage on your car, i'd suggest you get the idler and tensioner pulleys ($250 i think) b/c it would definitely suck if those were to crap out especially after going through all the work to replace the belt.

you might as well flush out your coolant system, so get a bottle of coolant flush ($6). i used Gunk Radiator Flush. a coolant funnel is also pretty handy, it makes filling and bleeding the coolant system a breeze (~$40). you'll see pics of these at the end of the how-to.

other than that, good luck on the project. i hope you can finish in one day smile.gif

Good idea on the coolant flush... Im gonna go change the O2 sensor as well coz I think I'm running richer than normal. Idler and tensioner pulley would be for next, I'll be short on budget if I do it now, but if somebody can lend me 300$ then hehehehe.

thanks azian...

any updates?

let me know how the maintenance went. I've got a small leak on my water pump and I'm just about to pull the trigger on this job myself.
