SeaFoam..gotten some mixed responses from people. Options

soo my celica is still getting pretty horrible gas mileage.19 mpg currently. haven't changed the o2 sensor(s) yet, but it isn't throwing any codes either. changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, alignment...


Now i would like to give Seafoam a try. its a pretty potent clenser from what i hear. id like to get some responses from you all. what were your results, and how did you use it? (fuel tank only, vacuum only, intake only?...all?)
my friend tried it and it ended up blowing his pcv valve clean off the truck. it got melted as well, idk if it was complete coincidence or not.

i plan on just trying it in the tank for now.. but let me know how it worked for you.

Here's a long thread containing the Seafoam debate. Just search "Seafoam" in this section of the board and you'll see there's been LOTS of debates about it.

At 19mpg you have nothing to lose but six bucks by Seafoaming the crap out of your car - via brake booster vacuum hose, shortly prior to an oil change. Change those o2 sensors though. Even if they're not throwing a code, they could very likely be the culprit.

I agree with griffgirl. I was getting 23 mpg till I tried seafoam. Used it in the gas and didn't get much of a change. Used it through a vaccum line, like in that thread she posted and I get a regular 29 mpg. Stuff works great. Sounds like your friend either has really bad luck or didn't put something back together right

I should try using Seafoam seeing how I have 155000+ miles on mine and I dont think anyone has ever cleaned the injectors and whatnot...but its still runs pretty good, but I think It needs it anyway.

have you try toyota fuel injector cleaner? I never heard of seafoam before I will look into that but I use toyota fuel injector cleaner it a can you but a certain tool and hook up through the fuel filter and disable the fuel pump and let the can run out and the car stall. I use it and I get 400 miles on highway on a fuel tank of gas.

hey i was also have mpg probs....to the tune of 22 in the city is this seafoam at the local parts store i was going to try fuel injector cleaner but is toyota brand necessary? mines a 5sfe completely stock i was planning on putting on an intake but not until i figure out y im not getting stock mpg thanks in advance
