i went to put my car into first...and i couldnt move the shifter into gear....i tried all the other gears and even reverse...couldnt do anything. so i finally jammed it into first and got home one way or the other...to make things even better....my dad gets mad at me because he says its the way i drive it....(okay sometimes i run it hard?)..but anyways his buddy just happened to stop by that works at a garage right near here...and i told him what was wrong and he said the clutch is gone...just want to make sure before i order a new one?

It could be your throw out bearing. Did you check your shifter cables before you jump to any conclusions?

if its hard to get into gear then its not disengaging properly, reasons for this are:
master or slave cylinder leaking preasure, therefore not pushing the clutch for far enough to release the clutch.

flex clutch line leaking or bellowing out (expanding) again causing the slave cylinder to not move far enough, hence not release clutch enough.

Worn clutch fork. the fork itself is made from cast and pivots on a steel ball, the cast part wears out over time from lack of lubrication, this effectivly takes the pivot point further away from the clutch plate, hence less travel hence less release

like bccentaur3 said it could be shifter cables come out of the clips that hold them too the box, or the outer sheath has come loose, although if it does it for all gears it would have to be both cables which is unlikely.

if it happened quickly its likely to be one of the first couple, prehaps a tiny pin hole in the flex clutch line, or shagged seal in the master cylinder.

How many kms on it?

the car has about 139k miles on it...i dont know how many kilometers that is...but im assuming its the clutch because it has 139k miles and i dont know whether the guy who had it before ever replaced it...but possibly tomorrow i am going to have my dad's friend look at it that is an expert on toyotas...he will for sure tell me what it is

all i kno is when my clutch went at like 3 in da morn... i could easily slip it into any gear i wanted to but it just never grabbed i rolled over and had to get my car towed..

if you can force it into a gear and drive then its prolly not the clutch but idk that much of what im talkin about im just going off of experience

if its grindin and such i would say its something else but if you cant get into gear at all even when the stick shows you're in the gear, i would say its the clutch
