K i understand what suspension do and all but i dont know exactly what i need to make my car handle and drive better.
Currently i get a clanking noise up front when i go around turns however goes away when i accelerate through the turn. over all my suspension feel like crap. I am currently running a stock 94 gt coupe. My problem is i dont know how much i should change. My big question handling wise how much can i change? Should i get new springs, struts .etc I am willing to pay for mid range products to high products only if there's a significant difference. |

well the clanking that your hearing on the turns is most likely your cv joints that need to be replaced. Once you have these replaced, I would (and so would most on here) suggest getting yourself some tein, eibach, or tanabe lowering springs and some kyb shocks and struts. Once this is done you will notice a HUGE difference in the cars suspension. Theres more you can do, like sway bars, strut towers..but i would hold on that and see how you like the basic springs, shocks setup first.
Springs will run about $150 and the kyb shocks and struts will run about $180 goodluck! |

Push down on each corner, the car should spring up and settle in one smooth movement - if you get additional bounces its time to replace the shockers for sure. Other symptoms you may have noticed are wallowing into dips into the road and maybe unsettled exiting from corners, check for leaking from the shocks too. I'd recommend either KYB replacement struts or maybe Bilstein (Touring? I think) with Eibach springs as they always go down well
When you replace them you will most likely need to get some new rear drop links as if they were anything like mine you'll need an angle grinder to get them off, probably only like $25 for a pair in the States. Might want to think about replacing the ARB bushes too to tighten up the back end some |
