So my daughter is almost 14 months old now. She finally is big enough to sit facing forward. She also is talking a lot more saying Mama, Daddy, puppy, keys, etc. Well Sunday we got back from the beach and the family car was full of stuff still so I put her in the back of my Celica for the first time. She fit pretty good and liked looking up at the hatch glass. Anyway I backed up out of my driveway and went thought our neighborhood at about 20 mph. I pulled out on to the main road and got on it a little (hey it’s a Celica) to get up a traffic speed, about 55 mph. Right around 45 mph my daughter lets out a big WEEEEEE! I turn around shocked at first and she has both hands up in the air and proceeds to clamp after I back off the throttle. laugh.gif laugh.gif I laughed so hard, I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard in my life. I had to pull over and take a minute. Kids are so much fun! Just thought I would share this will everyone. biggrin.gif

Glad to see someone enjoys the power of the Celica!! biggrin.gif

Woulda had a heart attack if she asked you "Where's the boost?" laugh.gif [<- sounds like the old Wendy's comercials laugh.gif ]
My two boys are 11 and 13 and they know exactly what car they want when they get old enough - mine. Hell no. I told them if they worked for it we'd start with a 5th or 6th gen and maybe right before college we'd add some boost - maybe. They're freakin crazy enough as it is.

I hear you on the chances, I bought a 2008 Kia Optima just for the little girl. I have not had her is the Celica for fear of all the idoits out there. Your daughter will be enjoying riding in your Celica before you know it!! wink.gif

Did you have an older KIA? I love ours and my Dad and a buddy went out and bought one after driving ours. I could not afford the Altima but Optima sounds close! kindasad.gif

a 2001 kia sportage (click for pic)

For something with "sport" in the title, it had like 40hp. thumbsdown.gif I was scared to get on the main roads with this thing, the 4wd was a joke; especially because i got it stuck in the yard frown.gif THE FCUKING YARD!! it was dirt, just hard dirt. (hell i lived in a traitor park at the time) no grass, no mud, no water, no rocks, nothing, just dirt. Damn thing got 2 wheels stuck in a soft spot of dirt and spun out, the 4wd wasn't able to pull the weight of the truck out. there was something SERIOUSLY wrong with that truck. KIA = FTL. (IMO) sorry.

My wife got our altima used a few years back, it's been just as reliable as the Celica. WAY more reliable than the cougars. it's been taking my wifes abuse and keeps on truckin. Very nice, dependable car.

Yeah any KIA older than around 06 was a pretty bad car. But there new stuff is pretty nice, I test drove a ton of cars and you just can't beat the price and options on the Optima.

oh the price was Fantastic! But i suppose any BRAND NEW car for 7,999.99 is going to have problems laugh.gif

Well, (imo) that's why your daughter got so excited, she got to be in the Celica instead of a kia laugh.gif 14months and she already knows the difference!! laugh.gif Oh make sure keep up the good work, apparently that little girl is being taught right already! wink.gif

Don't feel bad. When my ex was preggo with our oldest I went to buy her a new Corolla but seeing as how i was 19 and my job sucked I got denied. I next tried the 1st gen Kia and it overheated on the test drive that the salesman couldn't be bothered to go on with us [He claimed he knew it would do something bad and that seeing as I was a Toyota man he knew I wouldn't buy it - sure he did rolleyes.gif ]. So lastly we tried the little known company called saturn who thankfully got us in a new 1st gen SL2. Three years went by without a hitch when the alt went out - after that life changing event [serious PITA] I promptly drove my Saturn up to the Toyota dealership and got my ex a V6 Camry XLE [Oh they were only too thrilled to talk to me now after 3 years of steady payments laugh.gif ] and used the remaining cash i saved from monthly payments on a '86 Celica GTS I later swapped.

Sidenote: Karma's not only a bitch but it has a sense of humor too:
My ex after leaving me with bad credit and debt lost the tC i had bought her after her numerous pimped Camry's I bought her and fcuked her own credit royally. What was the only car she was able to finance? A 1st gen Saturn SL1 laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif - a step back down to where she belongs. biggrin.gif

hehe reminds me of when my son was about 2. when we would go over to my sisters theres this side by side round-a-bout that really lets me show off how well the celica can handle (i do the speed limit while all the old people in her town go like 20 under in a 25mph zone lol) but when i hit those two roundabouts my son would start giggling his head off uncontrollably, sometimes i would double back just to get a laugh out of him hehe
