SWEET MOSES THAT SCREEN NAME IS EXCELLENT! ROFL!!! sorry, OT, I know... I was just thinking the same thing myself. If he shows off his carlton banks dance moves or starts singing Tom Jones, I bet he'll get lots of responses! P.S. I'm actually looking to get a 3sgte setup for myself, so I am actually interested in responses. This won't be for my 6GC though. It will be as a JDM replacement for my '92 all-trac blown motor. I've considered everything from rebuilding what I have, to getting a JDM engine/transmission off Ebay, to a full front clip (expensive). |

so you think the full clip is the way to go? Not necessarily. It's the same question I'm trying to answer for myself too. But, I think each person's situation is unique. For basically $1500 shipped from eBay, I can get a JDM engine, transmission, turbo, manifolds, harness, ECU, TMIC, sensors, and other things immediately bolted to the engine. If i get a full front clip, it will be another $1000 on top of the $1500. Are the other parts I may or may not need going to be worth that extra $1000, and if not, can I recoup some of it by selling the extra stuff I don't need.... That's what I have to contemplate. I'm not swapping different types of motors though. I'm swapping same for same and bringing it back to stock (my car has some mods won't be re-using for now). The thing I like about the full front clip is that I will be responsible for disassembly, and I will know where things went, what bolts go where, and if I have all the bolts I need. I will know that I did not personally REAM on the wire harness trying to remove it. You never know what happens if someone else pulls the engine for you. Buying a clip may be even more of an advantage for you than for me because you are swapping completely different engines, and if you are not familiar with the 3sgte, I would think it would be helpful to spend time disassembling and removing it first before you try to put it back together in another car. In my situation, the stock items that I am missing are fairly simple and straight forward such as stock intake tubing, wire harness, and a few other minor things and I won't have to struggle to find how things go back together. I don't know what your past experience is with the 3sgte, but it's something to think about... |
