i dont see how people can say get a 350Z, RX8, EVO 8, or STi when those cars arent even remotely in the same class as a celica.

I'm with Toyota. I don't really care about hp. If I had more I would probably kill myself.

As long as the MkV (or whatever their next "supercar" is) can compete, I don't care.

Usually people who want alot of HP are younger people, and as younger people have less money, how are they going to afford a $30,000 350Z (which is really nice, my dad just bought one). The STi is even getting really expensive, this is why the Supra and 300Z were stopped...its cyclical.

They were stopped because they were ridiculously expensive...not because no one wanted them. Nissan got it right starting the new Z car out at a base of $25k instead of $40k. I hope Toyota does the same.

Ya thats been Toyotas down fall as far as sports cars and exotics. Look at the 1991-1999 MR2, A beautiful car but very expensive. Thats the car Im looking at buying and Ill still be paying 15000 for a car made in 1991. Which is in part due to Toyotas holding there value but also due to the original price of the car.

Yeah...I'm looking to get a 300zx in good shape, so I'm looking to pay around 15k too...for a car that was built in '90.

Thats another car Im looking for, basically priority is, overall shape of the car, color, and price. So it depends what comes first, the mr2 or 300zx. Both awesome cars, and oh man I sat in a 300zx a couple weeks ago and holy crap is it nice, its like sitting in a rocket":) Ive yet to drive either one but according to the reviews Ive read they are both superior in handling.

that makes sense, the other car they were speaking of is probably the solara, which the new one is cool as hell, and actually does have some decent HP, 225HP with the V-6 option, yet i havent seen a curb weight for it yet so im not sure. and from what that article states, it sounds like there wont be a MKV supra, it sounds like it will be either another underpowered toyota, or a concept car (which depending how its accepted, eventually turn into a production car). sounds like if we want some standard toyota power, we'll be chillin with the 90s toyotas for a few years...

Actually, Most car companies don't mind keeping Higher HP sports cars at higher prices TO KEEP THEM FROM teens and new drivers who'll kill themselves with that power.

Besides, it keeps the prestige and class of the car that much higher.

What killed the Supra and Rx7 93+ Sports car craze wasn't exactly the price, but moreover the SUV popularity that kicked in...many articles have been written about how SUV's killed the Sports cars. Search google and you probably can find some.

they go to say that someone else already has a fast car, like a BMW M3, so why should Toyota try to make a car fast like that? It's been done and the person will buy that car, not the Toyota ... so Toyota will work on being "different"

Something is wrong in this article.
At least Toyota have been producing BMW competitors for years.

Look at Toyota Chaser Tourer V with engine 1JZ-GTE - 280 hp, limited only by the Japanese laws, but easily tunable. Price in Japan $26800.

And it's successor Toyota Verossa with the same engine and Italian style.

I don't see how it would make any sence($$$) for toyota to have that one super car when they sell the camary and corolla to everyone and they mama.. and lets not forget about the 4runner..

I really do think they should come back with the supra..but they should do something that will make people love that care even more.. but a 3rd gen 3sgte in it.. people here in the states would love it just cause it would save so much on gas.. a hell of a lot more then a NA V6

I don't really care if they make any fast cars as long as they make cars that can be easily modified. Put a strong engine in any car and it can be made fast. I would love to have one of the new corollas and make a sleeper out of it to kill hondas. I don't know anything about that engine, though.
