I went to a garage yesterday..Trying to find out , what do i need to do to turbo my car.of course owning a celica we are limited.....sucks ass...anyway for putting a turbo on my celica..it would be around $5000 CASH MONEY.having a 1.8 don't help at all//The garage also said it would be alot better just to put a nitrous kit>$1100>(including labor)To get around 300hp is really hard to do for my car..on 6gen forums i see alot of celicas have turbos on the motor///i looked in forced introduction..before i made new topic..but im lost kindasad.gif ..i see people talking about mr2 turbo would fit>or something//>???

need some help//thanks//

Surely you're better off just buying a GT4? Or for that kind of money you might be able to buy a 3S-GTE engine from a GT4 and drop it in? Turbo on a 7A-FE is an uphill battle I reckon.

if you have a GT, as listed in your profile, then you have a 2.2 liter "5sfe" engine.
alot of the 3sgte turbo engine parts bolt on the 5sfe, including the exhaust manifold, turbo, downpipe and oil pan.
read the forced induction sticky on turboing your 5sfe for lots of good info on how its done.

I all ready made this 3 year commitment with this celica...I drove by this dealership.. and see this clean black 97 celica le hatch with 85 thousand miles mint condition//one owner..i was like wow.//i have to get this//...im starting to put extra money in my car and the more i lean toward the motor mods..the more i get frustrated...Then if i swap/i have to change all the computer stuff//i know this is going to bu huge investment but..i want start the right way..

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

if that $5000 includes labour... then it's probably like 4000 in parts or so... so... that seems right? if they are good parts...

There are two types of car tuners. There's the kind that every time they save up for a new modification they take their car down to the local tuner shop and drop it off for awhile, then drive away with a nice new impressive installation, and then there's the type who does the work themselves, and saves a lot of money, and sacrifices a lot of time.

I understand that you just bought a nice new celica, and you're all excited to make it "cool and fast", but you're also unsure about making a huge investment. Let me put it bluntly: car tuning is a huge investment. You just have to decide if you're going to have the work done for you, and invest a lot of money, or if you're going to learn to do the work yourself, and invest a lot of time....and quite a bit of money. tongue.gif

As far as an opinion on the turbo, I'd suggest you shop around, and maybe consider learning how to piece together your own, because you should really be able to get that car decently turbo'd for around $2000-$3000. I'd highly not recommend NOS. You'll end up causing a lot of excessive wear on your engine if the block isn't beefed up first.

OF COURSE I KNOW I HAVE TO INVEST SOME..I MEAN ALOT OF MONEY//I HAVE A PASSION FOR CELICAS/..THERE GREAT CARS//I LOVE DRIVING THEM..I LOOK FORWARD ON THE RIDE TO WORK//BUT WHAT CAN DO WITH MY ENGINE..I WOULD LOVE TO LEARN ABOUT MY CAR BECAUSE ITS A HUGE PART OF ME.IF ITS "HAPPY" IM HAPPY.

Turn the caps off. In internet lingo that implies that you are yelling...which most people don't appreciate. wink.gif

In that case I'd recommend you start considering a 3s swap. Most people here agree that thats the best way to get a decent amount of bang for your buck with the Celica. You should probably be able to get one in for about the same price that you got quoted for the turbo job.

I dont know about the 3s. The thing about the 3s is that, yes if you spend the money right its not really a big thing to put the engine in, but its a lot of money all at once. Turbo the 2.2 would be a build up process and he could save up and buy 1 part at a time till he got everything he needed to do the swap. I mean 85 grand in Milage? that engines not even broke in yet. why waist it?
