hey guys. so im in the process of sanding down my rims in order to prep it up to paint. im having a problem getting all the dirt and grim and tar off of it especially in the back.
for the most part i have it completely cleaned, but some parts i couldnt get off i ended up just sanding it anyways and that seemed to get it off pretty good. but im still just a little worried. is there any super-strong cleaning agent that will completely destroy any amount of dirt left on it? i want the paint to stick as long as possible. |

Paint thinner. I sanded my wheels down, then cleaned them with paint thinner, it will work wonders.

or prepsol/wax and grease remover (duno what you fellas call it over there) but its like thinners in the fact it removes all crud and sh!t, but doesnt harm paint (i know your in the process of painting wheels but for future reference if you wanted 2 use it to clean off stubborn stains of paintwork you could).

soak in a tub of "simple green", rinse, dry, and then hit 'em with thinner as a final before paint...

MEK
Methel Ethel Keytone. It's similar to acetone. Will remove everything, I repeat EVERYTHING that would keep the paint from sticking. Wear gloves |
