You're nowhere near where I live, however there's a couple of 6G up for sale in the city I live in. Both are red, both have the Veilside (probably a rip off version) body kit. They look pretty shady though. Before I picked up my Celica, I looked at one of the Veilside Celicas and either it had been absolutely destroyed in a wreck or the body kit was installed by Helen Keller. Everything was absolutely misaligned the headlights in particular. The drivers side headlight was in about 2 inches compared to the other. It was hilarious. However the guy said it was certified and emissions tested for 2k. The other Celica appears to be in a bit better shape, however it looks like the EXACT SAME CAR in pictures, but its worth like $2500 and in a completely different part of the city.
I have a suspicion though that they are IN FACT the same car. Hahaha I just thought I'd share that with you. If you want a $2000 lemon celica, I have seen a few listed up here. -------------------- ![]() (\__/) (='.'=) This is bunny. I've been searching all over craigslist. It's a wonderful place, don't get me wrong, but I'm not finding a whole lot... I check it three times a day, in a span of six nearby states, north to south and east to west, every town listed on there. The ones I find are mostly trashed beyond the point of being worth buying. I figured I'd post on here too and try and get some of y'all's help. I have noticed though that Ohio seems to be the midwest Celica heaven, a dime a dozen, so I have been concentrating my efforts there.
I am curious as to what other regions are good for finding a Celica? Washington is heavily populated it seems too, but that's definitely out of the question as far as driving... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... -------------------- 1987 Celica ST (RIP) 1st car too

Well I've got a 6gc back about a year ago. Just got my MR2 now this month and got big plans for it. Difference? Really fun to drive! And much more sporty feeling where as the Celica is much more of a relaxing ride. I loved my Celica and it was my pride and joy. Even after I sold it a very long time ago till this day I still miss it. But I'm falling for the MR2. OH yeah, and I love it when chicks turn their heads and watch me as I pass by.

Hahaha don't knock the ST man
![]() Honestly, I would take it. GT isn't worth it IMO. For me a GT would be like another $100 a month for insurance. Basically the price of a 4A-GZE that I can swap into my ST and have more power than the GT by a fair margin. Take what you can get really. 6th Gens are a hard find sometimes because they're cheap and lack power so people treat them like **** and now there's few left. Oh also, there's now 3 Celica GTs for sale in Hamilton. 2 red, 1 blue... all with the veilside kit. ![]() -------------------- ![]() (\__/) (='.'=) This is bunny. Canada eh? if only... lol... I'm not knocking the ST so much as I'm missing my old GT... it was a complete beater with 246K on it but it ran a lot better than my ST... maybe its past experiences that's controlling me... lol... At any rate, I've kinda decided on a GT in Ohio... blown motor but comes with a spare... Hopefully all plays out alright... I do appreciate the info though...
BTW, how solid is the 4A? haven't read up on them too much... -------------------- 1987 Celica ST (RIP) 1st car too

I would agree that for $2000 you're really not going to get much, and if anything, you're likely going to need to dump a lot of money into a <$2000 car to get it running again (unless you find one with body damage only). If you can hold out and save up to a $3000 budget, you'll have a lot more opportunities.
Here are some examples around here of 6GC's. this one is under $2000 but has very high miles and doesn't appear to be drivable: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/774346621.html I don't know anything about this one: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/770028749.html I've called on this car before--it has very high miles as well, but a newer motor: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/742146379.html In my experience owning a '95 ST and a '94 GT, I wouldn't worry about holding out for a GT. There really isn't that much of a power difference. The main difference of "power" is whether you get an automatic or a 5 speed. But either way, these cars aren't known for power. They are known for looks and handling. If you are in to mpg and fuel economy, the ST does get a little bit better fuel economy. My '95 ST was an auto, and I got better fuel economy with it than my current '94 GT with a 5-speed. For $2000, you basically need to take whatever you can find. And really, for any budget, just take whatever comes along that is in the condition you like. |

BTW, how solid is the 4A? haven't read up on them too much... The 4AGE is close to bomb proof. All you need to do is go out and find some AW11, AE86 or AE92 guys. They can explain why the 4AGE is so awesome a lot better than I can. The one thing I will say about the 4A is that it is known for building a stupid amount of power for a 4cyl. Like LONG before the F20C, it was making stupid amounts of hp/L. The racing variants were especially known for this. Being able to push out 240hp (Formula Atlantic) - 250hp (JTCC) from 8000 - 11,000 RPM. People with a lot of cash or serious AE86 drifters have those engines OR have engines built up to about those specs. Haha of course this is only an option for the ST really. Nobody wants to be changing motor mounts, plus you can always swap to 3SGTE with a GT. -------------------- ![]() (\__/) (='.'=) This is bunny.
