everytime I start my car it'll start but the RPM's will quickly drop and it'll turn off, however if I rev my engine usually around 2.5 to 3 RPM's it'll stay on but i notice a puff of White Smoke from the exhuast and it only puffs after i Rev? Any ideas what it might be?

White smoke means the piston rings are done. Blue smoke is burning oil. Yes? No?

Yes. White smoke also means preston is burned in the process
So could be gasket as well

i think your headgasket is in need of a change. White smoke is engine coolant.

really? it's not a constant stream its a single puff, it only does this when i start the car. there hasn't been any sign of smoke while driving. and oil levels are good to. it's white smoke though

you mean while your car is warming up? it pushes out white smoke then goes away once you hit full operational temp?

You probably need to clean or replace your Idle Air Control valve. Besides that, your car is fine.

Kind of, the Smoke only last for a second, like there was unburnt particles left in the Manifold, it has a sulfer kind of smell to it to, but after that 1st puff it stops smoking. and it has rough starts in the cold thats usually when it pushes out the most smoke

my 99 gt recently started to puff once in a while when starting too. it never dies though. it seems like it is normally only after its been sitting a while +10hrs. I'll have to pay closer attention to the color and smell. Im pretty sure its more white than anything, and no noticeable smell.

my 94 st had somewhat the same problem. RPM would just drop and car would die but would start back up if car was moving. Never figured out what it was, even after hooking up every scanner/scope available.

I've heard of changing spark plugs to be a solution, but not guaranteeing it's your problem. It's because sometimes the seal on the plugs go bad, and allows oil to leak inside the combustion chamber. Sometimes you can burn such a small amount of oil that it appears white. What does it smell like? "Charred-ass" smell would be oil, coolant usual doesn't have that room clearing smell, as it's mostly water.

I think I have the same problem ... I have a 99 GT and it only happens from a COLD start ... i don't know that that helps anyone in diagnosing the problem but it is much the same .. if I have ran my car in the last 3-4 hours I normally have no problems starting it ... spark plus are OK ... cleaned throttle body before and that helped alleviate the problem for a while but it comes back in a couple of months ...

Well i fixed the starting and stopping problem. So i replaced the spark plugs and cables and noticed that Plug number 2 had the spark plug wire core stuck to the spark plug. after changing them the car no longer turned off. however after sitting for awhile it still pushes a small amount of smoke out? kindasad.gif
