It's crazy when he mentions going for 51 coats of polish but he didn't see a difference after coat 7 or 8.

WTB that kind of free time and expendable income! redface.gif

I've seen a whole bunch of Astra's around here, but this is Canada its a different market. Things that sell very well up here don't necessarily sell very well in America.

I'd kind of like to compare though. tongue.gif

Up here its all about the Yaris (Toyota Vitz & Belta), Corolla, Civic, Fit, Astra, Aveo, Matrix and Vibe. Those are like the most commonly seen new cars and they're all small commuter cars.

For us, it's mostly F150s, tundras, silverados, explorers, and a wide array of SUV's. torus's, & malibu's for cars. Civics are the only real popular import. Mustangs are a plague sweeping our nation.

But in Texas, we've got about a 60-40 population of trucks/suvs to cars( Sport or Otherwise ) IDK about the rest of the world. Aparently in california they drive pink cars with rainbow's all over em, celicaST_cali has one. Pretty fly rims too. (check the photoshop thread laugh.gif )

Just pick'n on ya celicaST. tongue.gif

I would love to detail my car like that. Seriously, it's making me wanna run out and buy some equip biggrin.gif

It's so true - try being lowered on Teins with a 30ft tall dually on your ass. And before you say hit boost and pull away - Half of them have Boost and Propane and they can keep up just fine. mad.gif

QUOTE
Now the car was ready for washing...I decided to wash in pure reverse osmosis water zero ppm in the dunk bucket and 50/50 pure and hot water in the shampoo bucket...Shampoo used to day is Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II and a pure sheepskin wash mitt which i thought id try after over a year using a special silicone free sponge and obviously grit guards in both buckets...Wheel brushed used are my 2" , 1.5" and 1" sheepskin drumsticks..

I'm not one for violence, but that paragraph makes me feel rage and violent. Is it just me?

why on earth would you go through all that trouble for a Vauxhall Astra!?!?
with all the time and money he PUT into that car, he easily could have enough to BUY A DECENT CAR!
but still nice work, and it looks (edit)AMAZING! for what it is! my god, that is some amazing work!

oh and griff, thats the Vauxhall badge, i bet they have some on ebay motors or google something or other. biggrin.gif

He's got a car that's one of only 835 in the world -- that's not a typical Astra to start, not even a typical VXR.

Put it another way -- that setup, from the factory, will have a better power-to-weight ratio than a Mk IV Supra, and will probably handle better. It certainly offers more power than you'd find in a GT4 or All-trac.

This is a testament to detail and quality workmanship. As for the time and cost, he's rather obviously sponsored -- and anybody who's that dedicated will have done the work to make himself a financial success as well.

Sheepskin drumstick -- a cylinder, usually a hard sponge, wrapped in sheepskin (meaning genuine wool still on the leather). Sheep wool is preferred for cleaning because it pulls particles inside the fibres rather than dragging them along the surface (scratching the paint) as would a sponge, and because it rinses easily.

It's odd reading this as I'm in the midst of my all-out exterior detailing; just finished the wash-claybar-wipedown-wash stage. I still have to go through the polish and waxing stages. He's a hell of a lot better than I am, that's for sure; I wouldn't dream of trying to polish a car with a rotary, my random-orbital's enough for me.

The water's purified to prevent mineral deposits from forming as it evaporates. Rain + mountains usually means your water supply is soft and relatively mineral free, but most water supplies are pretty mineral-laden.
