O.K... So I plan on swaping my 5sfe for a heavily built 3sgte with aprox 500hp. I was originally planing on just using my current trans. But people are telling me that the 5sfe trans are weak and won't hold the power. The engine I'm buying is the gen 3 st205 motor and it comes with the awd trans. Is there anyway to convert it to fwd? And if I did would it be any stronger than the one I have? Or should I use the MR2 trans.? And what the hell is the difference?

where can i swap my old 5sfe for a built 3sgte!
haha anyways, you'll want the e153 strictly because it has longer gearing & its stronger than the s54. (stock 5sfe tranny) and rethink 500hp in a FWD car. i only had 330whp thats like 370-380 crank horse and it was just stupid. no traction till 4th gear. i mean it was fast as ever but id rather no have to wait till around 80mph to hook up. it will be a highway monster though. -------------------- |

2nd the awd tranny is stronger, but i dont believe anyone has tried (because of $$$ reasons) to make it a strickly FWD tranny. A guy on celicatech.com has done it. Check the stickies, that post should be there somewhere. -------------------- 98% completion --- aaRon |

I'm building the car mainly for drag racing, maybe a weekend cruiser... I will be running drag slicks most of the time. Besides you don't get any traction out of anything with 500hp. I just wanna know which trans. will last longer. Thanks!

E153 then but those slicks you plan will tear through that fairly quickly too. You actually have the motor picked out or are we dreaming/schemeing ATM?
