Hi, i decided to build a spare tire subwoofer enclosure because my old subwoofer was much to heavy (~78lbs), the new sub weighs only ~28lbs. Because of the heavy weight and the mounting depth of the JL Audio 12W6v2 i had to change to a 12W1v2, it wasn't easy to do this because the W6v2 sounds really great but the W1v2 doesn't sound much worse, the only thing is miss is the damn deep bass the old sub produced
![]() The enclosure is made of 3-4 layers 480g/mē fiber glass and polyester resin, some 16mm MDF pieces for stiffening and 19mm MDF for the cover plate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks good. I have mine mounted in a similar way.
I also got some speaker grills so that I can put stuff ontop of the sub, if I need to. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

looks pretty good but can i suggest putting a piece of plexi-glass over the amp? might clean it up a little better and it will give it a nice finish....good work over all A+

That's almost the same idea I was throwing around. Glad to see it works good. How does the final product look with carpet back in and all?

Very nice..... i like it a lot, have wanted to do something similar for a long time...
Although the only bad thing about your install is that it has made me jealous. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by raz128: Aug 24, 2008 - 4:14 PM -------------------- |
