is there an easy way of taking these out, without taking the brakes and rotors off?

rotors and calipers have to come off Art, after that it's cake.

So do we beat the studs out with some WD40? With a hammer or rubber mallet? Does it make a difference?

you arent gonna get far with a rubber mallet, use a hammer and if you have a aluminum block so it wont mess up the studs but if your replacing them, use a heavy duty hammer...i had to use a sledge hammer when i used to work on deisels

yea, a mallet will be fine. Theyre actually not that bad to come out.

Yes you do, but before you go postal on the studs with your hammer... you have to remember to move the spindle in position with the half moon cut out on the other side of the hub. Basically, You will only be able to take one out at a time. Alighn the stud with that half moon cut out then hammer it out. Other wise it will hit the the Dust Plate behind it. I know its hard to understand with out pics, but youll see what i mean when you actually take the caliper and rotor off. ill try to get a pic up soon. Front you only need to remove the Caliper/Rotor In the back (for me anyway because I used 20mm spacers, therefor 20mm longer studs) I also had to loosen the handbrake pads to allow space to move the new studs in and old one's out of course. -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

Taking the Rotors and Calipers is actually easier than i thought. When i replace my wheel bearing i took them off... Its just two 17mm bolts that attatch the caliper bracket to the hub and the caliper comes right off. then the rotor follows. The assembly comes off complete with the pads still in place, therefore there wassent any need to push the Pot back in, in order to put the brakes back on. Just hang them from your shock while you work and youll be fine. I was actually surprised how easy it was. Soooo maybe that is the easiest way. beacause im sure you could hammer the studs out with everything on but it would be hard to see if your lined up with the opening in the back. if you remove the studs, the disc would fall off (the caliper wont really hold it) so how do you wanna remove the studs without removing the disc?
It takes 3 mins and 2 impact sockets to remove the calipers and disc... -------------------- |
