Hello All,

Although owning my Celica for a few years now I'm new to this forum and I wanted to do a little work to the car.

It is a 1999 1.8 ST (AT200) but apart from the engine and the lack of a year spoiler I can't seem to see the difference between it and the GT model? Can some one give me some details on what the differences are - my ST has the 15" alloy wheels from the GT model and the all round disc brakes, abs etc.

One thing I want to do is add leather to the interior? Does anyone know if the leather seats from the GT4 will fit with no modifications?

Also will the leather steering wheel from a G7 celica fit (can i transfer the airbag unit accross from my existing steering wheel)?

Many thanks

i have never heard of an st with factory all around disc brakes unless it was done by yourself or by someone who previously owned the car. the st has the 1.8L engine while the GT has the 2.2L. the steering wheel from a gen 7 celica will fit with no mods needed and if you want leather you can usually find it in a GT or a gt4 which both will bolt up no problem. wekcome to the site and the amout of info on here is incrediable about our cars. Make sure you use the search button located at the top right hand corrner of the site because everything you asked has been covered before. good luck with the car

the ST in europe has all disc brakes if I remember correctly. Also the st202 (GT model) will have the 2.0 3sge motor where yours is 1.8 7afe. Depending on what model st202 it will also have a different suspension set up. Some super strut suspension where others have macpherson. Almost all of this information is in the stickies so I would do some searching if I were you.

Welcome to the boards.

thanks for the info and sorry for jumping straight in without doing my research first - from reading through the differences article it appears that the engine (and rear spoiler) look to be the only major differences between my ST and a stock GT (possibly suspension but that's not easy to check).

I'll browse through some of the stickies for more information.

Just do not be confused much if you find "weird information" wink.gif. The most confusing thing is:

for US guys is GT 2.2 5SFE (ST204) but from someone from Europe is GT 2.0 3SGE (ST202)

...and do not forget majority here is from US wink.gif. That's why first reply on your post is not accurate much... That second one is much better.

You should look first on "learning articles" like this one. Than if there is not all you wanted to know ask (better twice... you never know lol)... wink.gif

thanks malpaso - the Uk/Us thing could be confusing. It looks like the US stock ST's are potentially quite different to mine, either that or the person who purchased the car went for all the optional extras.

Well here in the US they stopped selling the ST in 97 IIRC.
Oh and the st205 is the AWD GT-Four Model with a 2.0 3sgte. It's the most sought after version and wasn't ever available to the US market.
Some models of the ST had the power options and 15" GT alloys. Well atleast the 97LE did. I don't know of any STs with the stock skirts though.
I'm pretty sure that yours will have the macpherson suspension since it's an ST but I may be wrong.

Nope my ST doesn't have the stock skirts or spoiler - I've read recently information about the special edition models, the 25th anniversary and SR's? Are these just ST's with body kits?

Any ideas how I can check on the suspension type?

Thanks

Thanks - I didn't realise the EDM 2.0 GT had such an increase in power considering it's only a 200cc engine size difference.
