Didn't know where to post this exactly, but I want to know the best way to keep your car from getting jacked. Not so much worry over Celicas, but cars at my college do get jacked. Just for future reference, what are the best ways to keep that from happening? Ignition kill switches? Can you have more than one? Removing the steering wheel (I have seen a guy do that before)? Getting an alarm and locking the steering wheel? I am very confused when it comes to this stuff, but I want to know the best way if not, the most time consuming way (the time it takes for one to be successful at jacking the car if not totally preventable).

I was watching this new show on A&E called Jacked. They do a pretty good job at recovering cars (at least the ones they show). The only thing is all the cars that they recover have Lo Jack on them. I would say (personal opinion) Lo Jack is your best bet as far as getting your car back if it does get stolen.
Aside from that you can at least get an alarm. Most alarms (from what i've seen) kill the starter when the alarm is going off. So if someone where to break into your car they would have to disable the alarm before the car would start. Just keep in mind that nothing is 100%.... -------------------- |

my friends car had the club on it. The one that goes on the brake pedal.
They ended up jacking up the car and putting the wheels on dollys to roll the car down a block before stripping it.. so that gets an idea how secure your car really is... |

Hmmmm... best idea ever^^ just install a little camera in your dash and when they steal your car it takes pics and sends them somewhere(cell phone, email, lo jack.... wherever) I like it:) Serioulsy though the best way to go is to buy a good alarm, and be wise about where you are parking your car, in bad neighborhoods/streets/parking garages. It is never a bad idea to go out and check at every once in awhile either, like at a party or barbeque or something... If you have to park it outside, make sure you have motion flood lights on or around the area:) -------------------- 1 JL 1,000/1v2

Good advice. I just want to make the most trouble for one to try and steal it. Lord knows if I caught someone in the act, it is not going to be pretty. Not trying to be a tough guy, just stating my love for my car and my things. I have to find a reason to allow them to have me carry a gun, so I am going to go with the same excuse my uncle used that allowed him. Other than that, I think a kill switch would be good, and removing the steering wheel. I doubt it would be easy to steal a car in a congested college parking lot during the hours that I do attend. I always go where I can keep an eye on my car, otherwise (unless it is school), I don't bother going.
Thanks for your replies guys. Some of them really made me laugh too. This post has been edited by Random_Stranger: Sep 11, 2008 - 10:55 AM -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

i dont think 6gc's are high on the theft ladder, but i agree an alarm w/kill switch should suffice. you could always get lojack to recover your car if it does get stolen. however, if someone wants to steal your car.. they are going to. they put my buddy's rsx on a flat bed tow truck, lol. resourceful gta bastards

The only thing really reliable for sure is lojack. Plus some states give insurance discounts for having it. Take it from someone who used to know car theft very well. The only thing respected is lo jack or something similar. i know around here alot of guys wont bother trying to mess with car alarms they will just steal a tow truck which is a piece of cake and take your whole car. Ive seen it happen. One of my boys had the craziest security system on his car. But It didnt stand up to the tow truck. Bottom line your never safe.
