I noticed a few members on here have custom hood scoops but when i searched i could not find much about it. I was thinking about buying a universal hood scoop or maybe even and mr2 and putting it on my celi. Is it any more complicated that cutting a hole in the hood and putting the hood scoop on? what about when it rains how do you protect the engine?

I have one info about rain protection for you...Toyota has OEM solution for this for GT-fours called "rain guard"
but this is useful only for OEM GT-four hood as I know... -------------------- No more replicas... This is evolution... This is SS-four :)

Hey Dude,
The hardest part is working up the nerve to take a handsaw to your hood. After that, there's no turning back. Be careful when cutting the hole. You want to make sure you don't cut beyond where the scoop is going to sit. I laid tape on my hood in an outline of the scoop. Cover up your engine with a tarp so the sparks from the saw don't melt anything. They will if you don't. I promise. Oh, and make sure you measure your hood to make it dead center. Before mine, I had never seen a Celica with an aftermarket hood scoop. I bought a universal and shaved and hacked for full functionality. I made a plug for mine for when it rains. It just plugs up the hole. Super easy. Doesn't look fantastic...but it works. If you have any other questions, by all means - shoot. I've done about 5 of them in the last year. Check out my profile photos and my CarDomain. I've got newer and better photos of mine. This post has been edited by Spitrod: Sep 19, 2008 - 8:14 PM |

i made one for my rally beater, worked good and with a good pair of tin snips, it was easy as hell to cut out the hole. at first i tried using a cutting wheel and a die grinder, but the air compressor i was using was not large enough and it was more of a headache than anything. the tin snips literally took me like 5 minutes for the whole thing. granted my parts were all bought at home depot and painted flourecent pink to be a smart ass, but the idea of cutting the hole is the same.

There are some people with custom hood scoops, these are the only two I can think of off the top of my head right now though.
