I have been smelling gas really strong for the last week. Tonight I crawled under the car and found a small hole on the bottom of the tank and when I put my ear next to it I can hear air hissing either in or coming out of the tank. Will JB Weld solve my problem or am I gonna have to go at this in a different and more expensive way. Please, any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Have your friend light a match behind the car and see if u can beat the flames =)

Seriously tho, get a new tank ASAP all someone has to do is flip a cigarette out of either your car or the car on the side of you and *POOF*

And until you get a new tank, don't drive your car. In fact, lay under the rear end and enjoy the intoxicating aroma of gasoline....mmmm....brain cells dying.....::drools:: so delicious....hey that pink bunny is back!

I had the same problem this weekend, only the problem was a leaking gas line. I went to Toyota and they said that the part was discontinued. The guy there was pissed that Toyota would discontinue a part from a late model car. He told me that he would talk to the people in the factory in California to make a part for me. I find out tomorrow.

sorry for bringing this back from the dead but I really have a serious problem with my gas tank... it has a small leak. Can somebody shed a light on me and tell me if there is a quick solution for this? I'm really tight with money right now due to a newly purchased house so I'm not looking to replace the gas tank for the next two months. It is not leaking too much but it is leaking. My 17 months old daughter also rides the car for 30 mins every friday and sunday so I don't want to put her health in jeopardy. Please help ya'll...

I'd say to start hitting up your junkyards or LKQ's. or maybe craigslist looking for one... You can use an epoxy for now, but it's not going to be the best idea for a long term solution.

If you get a used one... Junkyards or LKQ it'll probably be like 50-70 bucks i would imagine... Maybe less... IDK for sure on this car... But it shouldn't be over a hundred. Toyota dealership would probably chage 150 or so...

Thanks D-Man, unfortunately, there aren't any celicas at our local junkyard. I've been there a couple of times in a span of 4 months and didn't see any Celica. Not even the older gens. I have been looking at Ebay and craiglist too but can't seem to find any as of now. I might just try the dealership this friday, I'll keep looking for now.

Craigslist.com? (usually a long shot, but comes thru from time to time)

Search the F/S threads for someone who's parting out...

Here, check THIS out... Now these guys are HORRIBLY expensive, for anything, but this parts break down should help you out when you goto remove it, Plus, it'll get you part numbers. biggrin.gif Hope it helps.
