Hoping this is the right place for this:

So I took my used oil to jiffy lube to dump today, and the container leaked about a quart of oil in my trunk. The oil soaked the back left corner, including the carpet, and then most of it fell into the reservoir where my spare tire is.

I removed the spare and took some towels and wiped all the oil out that I could. What else do I need to do? Can the carpet be salvaged? Is there any product that can break down the oil or is my trunk going to smell like oil forever?

Im not happy right now frown.gif

Use a degreaser. You can go to home depot and get some. I liked the degreaser product called Greased Lightning. works well and not too harsh. Any degreaser will work though.

There should be a drain plug in the bottom of the well so that you can wash the inside of the trunk and flush the results out the bottom -- though I'd capture it and take it to the dump rather than washing the oil/cleaner mix down into the ocean.
