So we've been having problems with the car's shifting since day one, the e153 tranny with lsd....

At first i thought/blamed the 7th gen short throw shifter, because it was hard to get into gears and the cable kept breaking the lock pin and coming off the tranny....this happened twice when shifting from 2nd to 3rd......and now the tranny is stuck in Neutral.

Luis was driving it and when he shifted from 2nd to 3rd the car just reved, so the shifter is stuck in 3rd position but the tranny is acually in neutral!!!!!

so im guessing the its the selecting bellcrank, so i took off the upper shift cable (left the lower cable attatched) and BINGO, the shifter was now able to move. Moving the shifter side-to-side moves the lower cable/ selector, so its all down to the upper pivot shaft (IN A NUTSHELL, the side to side part of the bellcrank works, the Front to Back doesn't). Is there anyway to fix this????? I tried moving it with a crow bar and hammer but its jammed.....Here are some pics:

" The bellcrank, also known as Gear Selecting Lever No. 1, moves the shift arm in and out of the case. It attaches to a pivot shaft on a support bracket that bolts to the tranny case"-from a rebuild thread online....

Ok, Luis called me about this and I was going to find a pic to help but you have a decent one.

I am not sure what's going on with the car, but I've never had those pins break, shifting was so-so but either I had a nice finesse to shifting or I just knew the car so well; IDK. But what it sounds like is that when he forced it into 3rd, it dislodged, or wedged the lever inside the tranny. I would suggest taking that piece out with the 4 bolts, and see if that's the case. That's where I would start.

These are the pieces that need to be moved around for the E153 tranny swap, so it is removable ( the red square ).

which cables are you using? i originally used my 7afe cables and had issues shifting... they never broke the pins but shifting felt very tight and forced almost. I fixed this problem by getting the st205 cables.

if you are using the st205 cables then i would start by removing the 4 bolts and removing the gear selector... but before you do, try and put the tranny in neutral so you dont have any issues putting it back in.

when i switched the gear selector over from the awd tranny to the e153 i made sure they were both in neutral.

The tranny IS in neutral, but the gear selector is stuck in what should be 3rd......i will be removing the selector tommorow and try to reposition it, but even with the cables disconnected from the tranny, they get sticky and stuck at times, im sure a better set would help anyway/// but right now we just have to get the tranny working..
