I know I already have a thread open regarding clutch issues, but even though I am going to take it in, I don't want to have to do it again. The guy is pretty cool, so I am going to try and talk to him about me getting the clutch and having his people install it for the deal of shortening up the warranty a few months. What is the best Stage 1 or Stage 2 clutch that will last?

unless your turboing, the best clutch you can get would be an OEM setup.
super long lasting, super easy pedal feel, and OEM reliability.

clutches that come in stages vary between manufacturers. A stage 1 clutch could be a stage 2 clutch for another brand.

Really? Because people say OEM sucks and I don't want to go through this crap again with my clutch slipping. Do you think perhaps I just got some cheap one and should make sure what kind I am getting this time? I guess if it is warranted then why not just stick to it, right? I guess he can keep paying for it until he gets tired of it and puts in a better one?

who are these "people" that say OEM sucks?
99% of the time, any OEM part is gonna be better than an aftermarket replacement when it comes to toyota parts.
and if your smart, and get the prices from an online dealer, print out the form, and bring it to your local toyota dealer's parts department, most of the time they will match the price. smile.gif

there is a reason the typical OEM ceilca clutch lasts 100-150,000 miles.

If its longevity you're looking for, presure is right, OEM will last long. I did say in your last thread that mine took 188k to die; that's impressive.

Also take into consideration what kind of driving you do, a stock clutch is very forgiving and great for traffic or stop-n-go city driving. Once you start moving up in stages the clutch gets less and less forgiving, and engagement gets harsher. The pedal also gets noticeably firmer, so be prepared to give your left foot a workout.

If you're intending to eventually do something like FI then don't waste time on the OEM and then end up having to change it again.

As far as my stage 2 goes, it makes driving a bunch more fun IMO even if you don't have power upgrades. A very much more aggressive feel to the car - we all know the stock 5s is the not fastest thing to drive, but it might just be the funnest!! tongue.gif

So chances are I just got a $#iTTy clutch when he replaced it? He told me they last about 80k, and I had mine for 3 years before it went out. Now it is slipping again and I don't like that. I am just going to have him keep replacing it then until he gets tired and puts something better in it. I am not sure if I will be charged or not, but I have until December 28th.
