Exhaust or no Exhaust?, does an exhaust system mess with your computer? Options

Ok so my step dad told me that i shouldn't get any exhaust parts for my car. That it would mess with my computer, and wouldn't help with fuel economy at all. is this true? i was planning on getting some headers a high flow cat and a magna flow resonator and combine it all together with 2.25 piping. Do you guys thinks this is a bad idea?

Sounds like the perfect setup - no it wont mess with the computer if you get the cat and locate your o2 sensors on either side like stock. What motor do you have [DUH EDIT: 7A-FE right? - 2.25 is perfect]?

Huh? A CAI you can use a modded accord one (im pretty sure that it) as far as headers they sell em on ebay

90-93, but the DIY is for a GT, but there is also another DIY on a build one yourself....

i heard if u mod almost anything on your car it messes with the computer and is much better to get it tuned to accompany the new product, possibly being safer and perform better... but thats just what i heard

Piece of advice on the catalytic converter -- assuming it'll be an underbody position to accommodate the removal of the cat on the stock manifold, get a Car Sound converter with a resonated core. Car Sound is MagnaFlow's parent company.

This will give you a resonator in your system, as well as a high quality cat.

As a point, I guarantee the piece you were calling a resonator is nothing of the sort. It'll be a round-body straight-through absorption muffler. A perforated pipe wrapped in a combination of ceramic matting and stainless steel wool. This is not a resonator. A resonator is a hollow chamber which bounces soundwaves off each other to cancel them out.

A straight-through muffler's mostly about volume, and a little bit about tone. A resonator is a little bit about volume, but mostly about tone.

Being in Colorado, you'll have one cat stock, and one O2 sensor. As long as the sensor is correctly positioned on your new exhaust setup, your computer will get the information it needs to correctly manage the engine.

Someone is lying to you LOL. Just look at the vast majority of the people on here - we almost all have a SRI at the very minimum. Some of us are highly BPU'd [see my engine pics for high amounts of BPU's - no codes

ECUs are designed to self-tune. The appropriate thing to do is to disconnect your battery for a few minutes before you take the car for the first drive after installing new intake or exhaust mods. The ECU will then, over time, adjust its settings to reach optimum performance. Actually, it'll do it without resetting it, but that will take longer.

my care came with a short ram. i bought a cai off my buddy for his acura cl type s. all i did was cut mine and attach his upside down to my cut short ram.
