I've been contemplating this for a while. I am planning on getting a front lip or splitters for my car (already have rear splitters, just need front and sides to make them look right). So I am thinking I might be able to save a little money if I just keep the stock convertible side skirts and paint them to match.
Here's my attempt at photoshoping how they might look painted: what do you guys think? good idea? Or should I just get some aftermarket (possibly stock coupe/hatch sides) to go with the whole body kit? This post has been edited by 96bluevert: Oct 18, 2008 - 6:05 PM -------------------- |

I think your side skirts don't line up and they look pixelated

Just do it! looks better than having that cheap plastic looking step.

I think a former member did the same thing. I believe it was lil lissa. She painted her stock vert skirts the car color and it looked really good IMO.

The only concern I have is that the stock side skirts don't hang down as far as the lip or rear splitters probably will...Otherwise, those two examples look really clean.

That looks good as hell! I'm going to look into it for my vert.
...and I wouldn't worry about the side skirts not being as low. It's still a really clean look and for just a little $. Great idea. -------------------- |

I don't think that's a good idea. The vert skirts have a thin rubber lip along the top to seal them tight against the body. I don't think the rubber will hold paint for long.

What if I masked them off so the rubber seal didn't get painted? You think it would work then? Of course if I did that, there might be just a little black strip going along the top of the skirts, so I don't know how that'd look.....

I've painted my vert skirts, and they rock now just need some kind of splitters or moar body-kit pieces or something But w/e.
I say paint with black rubber rim it'd contrast well with the black on your tires. -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! paint the stock, use bulldog or the like adhesion promotor, e seal doesnt rly move once the skirt is installed so i doubt it will chip with the promotor

Yeah I was thinking I'd need to get some different paint for the stock sides.

ditch the stock skirts. Get yourself some aftermarkets. Sweet jebus yes, that's what all vert owners are doing.
