Can anyone explain to me how hte ST205 bumper fits with a regular hood? I don't quite understand.
Did you just remove the crash bar, and it lines up? Doesn't seem like the smartest idea, if so. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

the main concern with having a regular hood with a ST205 bumper is the added height along the top of the bumper.
so if the middle top of the ST205 bumper isn't bolted against the upper bumper metal retainer, there should be enough bumper flex that will allow a regular hood to fully close. that's how i imagine what some people did to make this work. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

were you able to do like this without any mod(replacing hood latch etc.)? i'm considering modifying stock st bumper to fit with GT4 hood.
neat! Id like to do it the opposite way, 205 hood, pre-face bumper. This post has been edited by cellocinema: Jan 2, 2016 - 9:39 AM |

Goal for the hood latch is just extending it one inch. Whether you weld an inch extra to the stock latch hook or take the hook from rhd one a replace it to your usdm.
On another note, this is what I did for the center bolt of the upper seal. Azians was very early and I don't believe he mentioned, the st205 bumper extends forward which means if you're using your same st204 upper retainer, it won't line up, I have both so I can see it. Plus from the center the measurement of the hood is longer in the st205 by at least 1 inch. So if anyone noticed that's y azians bolts are slanted. The other method is good too but takes time to drill, cut, n bend a custom bracket. What I did was use a nut and bolt then slip an antivibration spacer underneath to support the center. It's not bolted all the way through but it's not needed there's alot of strength all around the bumper with all the nuts and bolts. Looks somewhat cleaner than previously done. https://goo.gl/photos/mPDFoMmDip4HuAzs7 This post has been edited by trdproven: May 9, 2017 - 6:13 AM -------------------- 94 Celica GT

Sorry for replying to such an old thread but I recently acquired a celiac with the GT4 conversion already done the only thing is the hood and bumper don’t line up. It is a GT4 bumper and hood. Could anyone tell me what they did wrong so I can fix it and have it line up properly? Also I wanted to put the fog lights cause I have the original ones but idk if I have to do something extra to get them to work. Thanks in advance!

That depends, do you have the GT4 bumper reinforcement? It is much shorter than the non-GT4 aluminum ones. Also, do you have the upper bumper cover support bracket? The GT4 one has a different shape to contour to the GT4 bumper. Hard to tell, maybe throw some pics up of what things look like behind the bumper. For light wiring and connector is the same as non-GT4 ones, plugs right in. |
