I read in magazines and hear people constintly talking about reflashing ECUs. Wut is it and wut are the advantages of it? Also when should this process take place in the tuning stage? (i.e. intake exhaust, ground kit, reflash)?

(i.e. intake exhaust, ground kit, reflash)? Cars get reflash to change the fuel delivery and timing maps...etc..its like tuning the sofware. Basicly if you have something like a full exhaust and intake you can get your ECU reflash to take advantage of the extra flow and get more horses, (usually 5-10 HP with small mods). You can't reflash toyota's though. -------------------- -Rémy 02 SiR, 08 250R |

correct.
Therefore a reflash thread on a toyota website is well useless. Its OE, piggy back or stand alone ecu for us brother. the end. This post has been edited by Cuts_the_Pilot: Nov 15, 2008 - 1:12 AM -------------------- ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four, #61 of 77............600hp GT3582r

Well, there is the Rom tune which is available for the GEN2 3SGTE, which is a tunable ROM. Its much like a re-flash in regards to having you stock ECU tunned for different performance bolt-ons such as bigger turbo's, bigger injectors, exhaust, etc and it is mail order for people who aren't local, or if you are local you can bring you car in to be tunned directly (which is the same process for a re-flash). Just to throw that in there.

You can't reflash the older Toyota ECU's. The newer ones you can. For example, if you were to install a supercharger on your tC you need to reflash the computer, if your 05-07 Camry or Avalon or Rav4 shifts like crap there's an updated reflash for transmission control.
