I was just telling Shannon how you didnt need to do that Manny, that was really nice. Thanks for going to the extra mile, you seem to do so in everything you do. I cant believe how well they cleaned up, they look like new in the pictures. I cant wait for this weekend, I never got a tracking number from EMS, so I hope the pump is on its way there and you get it soon! You will have all the other misc. crap on Wednesday. THANKS MANNY! This thing is coming out better than ever expected!

thanks jimmy boy, we go the extra mile for friends thumbsup.gif

a few more pics to illustrate the diffrence between fresh paint, untouched, and wetsanded and buffed.

here is one before wetsanding and buffing, ignore the spark plug, look at the reflection of the lights, and notice how the reflected image is blurry, and out of foucus looking. this is called DOI, or Depth Of Image, and can be mesured with a set of cards made to mesure the sharpness of the reflected image.

most OEM paint jobs normally come in between a 5 and 7 on a 1-10 scale, with 10 being perfectly flat, and a 1 being like the peel of an orange.
just for refrence, most toyotas ive seen come in between a 5.5 and a 7, most chevys and fords are a 5 or 6, higher end mercedes come in normally a 7-8.5

this first pic is prolly ~ a 7.5, its actually quite flat and shiny, but its definetly not FLAT.
(be sure to open the pics up to full size!!!)

now in these next 2, this has been wetsanded, and buffed, but not polished. (i need to pick some up!!)
notice the huge diffrence in sharpness, and clarity, or DOI.
this is ~ a 9 on the DOI scale, once i get some polish and hand glaze across it, it will REALLY bring out the shine, and depth in the clear.

thats what it SHOULD look like after its cut and buffed!

Just buff the rest of the car up to bring up the shine with some good compound. It will bring up the shine a lot.
A rotary buffer in the right hands can make a huge difference.

Hey Manny awesome job! Did you use a solvent-base or a water-base paint? If you have the used the water-based paint how was the quality of the finish compared to solvent-based paint. I know water-based paints have been around for a long time and some OEMs use them but I am not sure if the ability to match colors is better with than with solvents. Thanks.
