ok so I took the car around the block last night and I noticed after driving it a bit hard ( shifting at 4-5 k)I noticed a harsh burning smell and a lot of smoke coming out under the hood, although it runs fine idling.. Any ideas? I've been to busy to get in there and poke around

why don't you rev the engine by pulling on the throttle and see where it's coming from?

gaskets may be leaking causing the oil to heat up perhaps on your block or your cooling system has a problem.
