Fog Light Question, Running the fog lights to turn on with the parking lights Options

Hey guys,

I have the 96-99 fog lights already installed in my car. I was just wondering how can I run them to turn on when you just have the parking lights on? Right now, it only turns on when I put the headlights on. Oh, and I have the OEM light switch for the fog lights and I'm not thinking of running another aftermarket switch just for this.

I know of a how-to to do this, if you want me to get it for you. The catch is, the fog lights would be on when the parking lights are on, no matter what. I'm sure you could install a new switch yourself and get around that, but it's a fairly simple mod if you want me to find the link. I've been planning on doing it to my car so my fogs are on all the time, even with my brights.

Just wire the power to the fogs directly from a key-on 12v source instead of from the headlights. Right now they get the power to the relay from the headlight switch.

Let me look at the wiring for the car. There might be a way to simply move the trigger for the fog lights from the headlight circuitry to the parking lamp circuitry. I'm going to be in there this weekend so I'll try to remember to take a look.

You might be able to Tee in a wire from the side markers to the fogs. That way when the side markers turn on, they will power the fogs.

I would not rob the headlight wiring of anything, my friend caused more than 500 dollars of damage when he did that, just run it directly to the battery using an OEM switch I prefer, and thats what I did.

It is possible to turn fogs on anytime you want
- with ignition on
- with parking lights on
- with low beams on
- with high beams on
- even with turn signals

only you need is:
a) remove foglight relay



b) plug pair of wires instead of that



c) other end connect to "switching mechanism" (for you it means find where switch contacts for parking lights are... so just find two correct wires on multi-switch for headlights and connect it there)



no cutting, no irreversible processes at all...

So... I have found one already created by Dustin:



and just to match my terms wires of relay I have talked about:

"switching" ones: #85, #86
"connecting" ones: #30, #87

Wires in the picture below are using pins #87 and #30 (according to picture above). That's why when you make shortcut between those two wires foglights will be permanently on...

As an aside, is this required only on USDM celicas? As my JDM one has said capability on the stock stitch from factory.
