What's the best to get? I want one that has a long range. I remember we had a thread on this and I cannot seem to find it now. I am aware we have a thread on how to install them. These are the features I want, so if you know, tell me what I need.
-Loud ass sound to make ears bleed -Lights flashing -doors lock upon ignition or mobile car -windows roll up when activated -pop doors open to make handle dummies -trunk release -2 way pager -Ignition kill and then I need something for back up in case alarm is disabled through wires cut, so a good brand for such as well I bet there is threads regarding this all the time, but I cannot find them with a good brand to use. I know nothing of this and I want to learn, but not so much the hard way, as throwing away money isn't really an option for me at this time. Compustar, probably still have the longest range compared to other alarms. All the other stuff you wanted are optional features you will have to pay extra for them when I had my alarm installed it was $300 just to get the basic installation arm/lock and ignition kill if I wanted the manual remote start it would have been an extra $200 my compustar came with that feature I provided my own alarm too.

I am not about to pay someone $300 to install something in my car they just learned on their own when I am just as capable. Not like they went to Alarm installation school or anything. So basically look for an alarm with those features and do the optional installs? -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

If your willing to learn and are not afraid to splice into your harness then your good to go. The shop I went to had pro techs that went to school not like them oil changes shops. I like to do things myself too but messing with wires is not something I wanted to do, but yeah just look for an alarm with the features you want and go from there the alarms only as good as the person who installed it.

Thanks Remy made a GREAT quote worth quoting again: QUOTE the alarms only as good as the person who installed it. RandomStranger, while I am ALL FOR diy stuff, just be extra careful when you think about doing an advanced alarm/keyless system with no experience. While it's not rocket science, there are just a LOT of little techniques that add up to make the difference between a great alarm install and an okay one. As far as features go, Standard features with almost all high end systems: -Loud ass sound to make ears bleed -Lights flashing -doors lock upon ignition or mobile car -2 way pager -Ignition kill Things you will pay extra for: -windows roll up when activated (dei 530T if you want to roll up AND down, or dei 529t if you just want down) -pop doors open to make handle dummies (relays + actuators) -trunk release (relay + actuator.. also check out batman's how-to) -battery backup (dei 520T) Let me know if you need help, |

Ebay ones work pretty good too especially if you go the $200 route anything cheaper is not that great.
