When did this become a question of the fastest car? The McLaren was built for speed, thats it. The drivers seat is in the center of the car, when your one goal is to make ur car the fastest, then thats whats going to happen. If you have $1,000,000 to spend on an F1, go for it but what a waste of money.

When someone says, thats a fast car? what does that mean. It has fast acceleration & high top speed. Thats it.

ok from my point of view and from what mac says

there is only one fast car.

mclaren f1

fastest production car in the world

top speed, power to weight, 1/4, destroys all cars, etc.

McLaren F1 is by no means THE fastest car

1. 433 kph / 269.1 mph 1938 Mercedes-Benz W125 Record
2.409.9 kph / 254.7 mph 1988 Chevrolet Callaway Sledgehammer Corvette
3. 406 kph / 252.3 mph 2002 Bugatti 16/4 Veyron
4.403 kph / 250.4 mph 2001 Bugatti 16/4 Veyron Concept
5. 402.3 kph / 250.0 mph 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans

1. 2.6 seconds 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans
2. 2.7 seconds 2000 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Concept
3. 2.7 seconds 2000 Dodge Hennessey Viper Venom 800TT
4. 2.7 seconds 1999 Leblanc Caroline
5. 2.8 seconds 1995 Renault Espace F1 Concept

As far as 1/4 mile or power to weight I'm sure that some cars beat it too

Check it for yourself

fast is all in the driver. fast is the point you reach when you say "i better slow the F*** down" if you dont reach that point. you arent going fast enough.

1/4 mile times are only one element of speed, one that IMO, is too focused on.

I really appreciate you posting that, Andason. It really erks me when people say that Lamborghini's, Ferrarri's and McClaren's are the greatest cars ever. Its completely unoriginal!

And yeah, a Supra or a car of that stature can be made to compete (and cost less money at the same time).

I think that fast is defined as top speed whereas quickness is acceleration. The McLaren F1 is the fastest production street car (240mph). The Enzo isn't faster but quicker 1/4 in 11.1.

All I have to say is you don't know what a fast car is... you're just plain ol stupid!

If a Saleen Mustang owner came up to you and asked if your car is fast, you should say "No, it's not as fast as yours".

If a Geo Metro owner came up to you and asked if your car is fast, you should say, "It might be faster than yours".

If a guy in a 18-speed huffy came up to you and asked if you car is fast, you should say, "Yeah! Wanna race?"

But seriously... you all know what fast is... I don't know why there's so many (different) responses to this easy-to-answer question... it's common sense what fast is...

Now if this question were asked "in relation to":

X car
Y driver

or

X car and Y driver with Z mods

then yes, I can see how there would be so many different responses... but this is a really general question.

Who cares either way. As long as you walk away from your car with a smile on your face, it's served it's purpose.

I define fast as anything that can bring help me pass the idiots driving within like 5 seconds. So I consider my Celica like almost fast...cuz it barely does it....it does push me back in my seat when it shifts tho which is kinda neat....

I guess I just gotta be in the car ebfore I call it fast.

No those are 1/4 miles.... Of course they are 0-60.

You could get the Hennessy Viper(Production car)
Pretty sure you could get the Le Mans too.

1,000,000 will get you anything you want.
