Wheres the best place to live in AUS?? Options

Inspired by this thread, I was wondering, wheres the best place to live in Australia? Im mostly looking for atmosphere, nightlife, job avaibility, housing costs. I'm asking because I've come to a time in my life where I feel I'm completely at a loss. I have finished my schooling, but the career I went to school for (automotive mechanic), isn't what I want to do with my life. So I am in the planning/processing stage of thinking about coming to Australia on a 1 year working Holiday visa. So hense why I ask the question.

Where do you think a good place for a forigner to come and be able to make a decent living for a year??

whats the temperature like where your from?

in tassie where i am, it gets up to 30deg odd in summer and down to around the 10-15deg in winter, as its not one of the big places prices are affordable and jobs are around (unless your going into the metals industry, which has had a crash). I grew up north of launceston which is the second biggest city in tas (50 000 ppl or more) few good night clubs, and heaps of pubs, launceston is 30 minutes drive from a few top beaches and there is plenty of hotties around.

touristy places like the sunshine coast, sydney, melbourne are the top spots but dont expect heaps of job oppertunity or reasonable prices for living.

the perth/mandurah kind of area is prob in between those two

well im from Canada, so im used to temps in the mid 30s in the summer and between -5 and -20 in the winter. So 10 degrees in the winter sounds like a warm october afternoon to me..lol. Im also from Toronto, so im used to big cities, but i did live in a town called Windsor for 3 years, its about 127000 people. As long as theres somethin to do around town and a few nice places to go, I'll be good.

lol..I was considering NZ too. I was looking into maybe going there and stayin in Christchurch or Wellington. Ive looked into it alot aswell, but haven't really looked into AUS as much. I have a few people i know who spend our summers (your winter) down in NZ skiing on the south island, so I have plenty of stories and info from them. But I only have 2 friends who have been to AUS, 1 was only there for 2 weeks so she only did the really touristy things and the other spent 9 months with her cousins and pretty much spent her entire time in Sydney.

But, i guess ill hyjack my own forum, wheres the best place in NZ to stay??


Also, keeping on topic of both..ive been doing some job hunting over the net and I have found that probably 90% of the jobs i find say "Must have residency". Are there any decent full time jobs out there for non-residence??

How hard is it to find a job there for a forigner? Renting costs for accomidations? ect?

Job = should be easy to find, depending which field.
Rent/accomdation = depending which part of Sydney. If its near the city, east or near the beach then it will be costly, but if its out west its abit cheaper.

lol..if i did chris, it would only be for awhile...maybe 7or 8 months at very very most. I'm still not 100% sure on what I want to do though. Ive just come to a point in my life where I just need to get away from everything here thats not allowing me to make up my mind on decisions i need to be making.
