I HATE MY NEW CELICA Options

So I got a 1994 celica 2.2. It has 180,000. I bought it needing a clutch. So i got the clutch and put it in. It was a pain in the ass. Finally after the clutch was said and done i take the car on the highway, engine got hot, and when i got home, i left it running and the radiator blew everywhere. THe power steering leaks, the drivers side door doesnt open, the battery is dead and the starter is no good. Dont know what im doing posting this, but im ready to throw this car in the trash. Not to mention i transferred registration today from a car that works fine to that piece, and now i have nothing to drive. I like this car, but hate it so much.

well i guess youll have to fix all these things so u can enjoy it =) when i bought mine it didnt even have tires or anything...so with patience ull end up loving it =)

its a toyota, all this is not very hard or expensive to fix. where does the power steering leak from? where did the radiator break from? the door doesnt open from the inside or outside?? if you changed your own clutch than the rest should be a piece of cake

if you can replace clutch, u can easily replace those things, they won't cause you much and once you're done, this post will be the opposite.

Thankfully from the things you listed you only have about another $100 in repairs, probably less. Your overheating problems are probably because of a stuck thermostat. It sounds like the car has been sitting for a while and you might want to go over the hoses and belts to look for dryrot. And I would definately change the oil. Hope things get better.

I have way more $ and time to put into mine to get it running solidly... but I know for sure after all is fixed this will be the favorite of all the cars I've owned... and certainly will be the fastest eventually

as the guys said, if you replaced the clutch yourself then you shouldnt be whining at all, i know how it is getting frustrated over little things as my celi was the same thing, when i first got the car the speedometer didnt work at all, timing belt needs to be replaced, a/c had to be recharged,brake rotors had to be replaced, car overheats due to a stuck thermostat, radiotor cracked, and other things, not to mention the old owner did not take care of the car at all, dings and dents everywhere, the car was burning oil, and oil was barely changed probably every 5 months lol...good thing my uncle worked at a local toyota dealership, so he took care of the rest and now it sits wayy better than how it was 2 years ago

haha dude hers one way to look at it
1. you know that with all that work put into, you will enjoy driving it that much more knowing you brought it bacc to life
2. gives you a chance to learn a few things about fixing cars
3. the car always runs better when you know your the one who put it bacc together ( after a couple re-dos of course, doesnt always work right on the first fix)

Totally true; I will never take my car to a mechanic again. I would rather do all the work myself.

alll i got to say is if the car is hot leaving it running was a stupid idea. thats your own fault for that one.
secondly its 180k miles on it its bound to have some issues its OLLLLLLLD.

probably needs a water pump, batteries are easy. A starter is meh and not too expensive
just take some time and knock one out at a time.

this is just a lesson in you should inspect everything completely before you buy it, buying something that "needs work" for DD use is NEVER a good idea.

It's definitely a car worthy to fix. I bought mine with 175,000 on it and it ran crappy but then I put a grand into minor to moderate fixes and it runs like a champ except now I have some smoke at startup (bad valve seals) but it's currently in the shop getting that fixed and more! I love the car, you will too. By the way I love this more than an eagle talon tsi awd I had that had over 300 whp.

and everything started breaking down a few weeks ago
lol im in the process of replacing a few things
in the last two weeks alone i have bought:
new front cv axles
new clutch
new brake master cylinder
new ball joints
new water pump

yea, and im still not done, a few more things and it should be like new
i bought a prelude one time for what i thought was a good deal
the day after i bought it, it started falling apart
the bumper actually came off while i was driving home the next day
all the ball joints had to be replaced
along with all the brakes, new rotors all around
i ended up spending a couple hundred restoring it
after i was done tho it was an awsome little car
until some bitch hit me going 80 mph
then blamed me for the accident
the overall message is this:
if YOU put all the hours of work into it, then YOU will enjoy it more than anyone else would

At least after you fix all these problem you can take more pride in your tuner... Better than most people that buy their rides already in perfect condition!

Old cars have a lot of problems. If you want something reliable get a new used car.
