the rods are fine. look at pressure2s setup and you can get an idea of how far thngs can go. pistons dont give power...they support it. water injection and cams before even thinking about pistons and rods

its not just me.
shannon was running 50 more whp than i was, and jsut about 300ftlbs.

the rods arnt the issue, its the bolts, and thats more of an issue when you want to raise redline more than anything for most builds.

once you get to the point where you really need to do rods, your gonna want somthing better than stock anyway.

we really dont even know what the real limit is of the pistons yet, ive yet to see someone blow a motor from hp or tq.
99.9% of the time, its some sort of oil related failure, or just bad tuning.

also, the whole "its just a matter of time" thing is BS.

how long do you wanna wait?
its been running going on 4 years now.

please do a little bit of research here on the site, lots of threads about th 5sfte, and what it can and cant do, weak points, strong points and everything in between can be found with a few minutes of looking around if you want to find it.

QUOTE (Dragondog @ Mar 11, 2009 - 7:17 PM) *
dont get all upset man if ur is doing fine thats great makes me feel better i own one but iv seen a few twist their rods and snap and put hole straight thru block not the 5s but still a non turbo motor go turbo........but like i said this is toyota not ford..............however most guys i know that turboed their honda or mit. have either knocked a whole in top of piston(how it happend idk) and tor up their rings but they over do it too..........to be honest im suprized it lasted 4yrs with 5s stock.......makes me wanna fix mine up all tho i already pulled it......oh yea and calm down i beleive you im just jealous you have runnin turbo car and i dont lol ......it does make me think y they would stegthen the 3sgte rods

im not upset at all, i just dont want the misinformation to continue.
"knocking the whole top of the piston" and "twisting rods" dont happen without bad tuning.

as i said before, i am not the only one running a well built 5sfte that runs well, we have several members running sucsessfull turbo setups, including supershannon77, who has the highest stock longblock whp and TQ to date, and several more in the process.
they didnt "stregthen" the 3s rods.
again, its not the rods, its the bolts.
the 3s ones are larger.

i just saw a side by side pic the rods off 3s r bigger then the 5s...(maybe not stronger idk)......after researching tho i find the 5s does pretty good as a 5s-FTE that is the best way to go since u dont have to pull the motor and more afordable.

actually i've tried those 4-prong type of plugs and i didn't notice any gain. although i don't have a turbo'd engine so i can't say it won't benefit you but from what i understand, although the four prongs 'may' provide a spark with less electrical input and provide longer lifetimes, the extra prongs also act as barriers for providing a quicker combustion.

you can see them as being more reliable spark plugs but not necessarily something that will result to more HP.

I've been told by several people that the 4 prong deal is just a gimmick and doesn't actually amount to sh1t
