LOL I got a speeding ticket. Doing 62 in a 45mph zone. Now the cop was really cool, asked me if I changed the engine, I told him no after I popped the hood and he obviously didn't know what to look for or was just being real nice and said "Ok". I told him the air intake was carb legal which it is and he was like "Yeah I can see that". Then he was telling me how he liked my car and that Toyota makes good cars. Then he asked if it was fast and I told him no, and kinda talked about my plans for it. He was like "Alrighty! Take it easy man". :-D He was nice and just doing his job.

Anyways, I have a court date for next month on the 28th. Is an amount for the ticket supposed to be posted on it? I haven't had one for so long, so I forgot how it goes or what to expect as far as how much the ticket might be. My record is clean, but I have had my tickets in the past, like in 2002. Had 3 points at one time, with the last ticket only adding 1 point and didn't have to pay a fine, but had to go to traffic school for a day.

If the ticket or if you know what it could range to from a similar experience, I sure would like to know. I wouldn't mind the ticket being $200-250, I can live with that.

$300? That's up there, but I guess I can deal with that then.

I just got one a few weeks ago. 44 in a 25 (school zone) even though the posted speed limit was 45 and there were NO children present. Anyway, you're supposed to get a "courtesy notice" in the mail some time before your court date telling you to pay a certain amount of $$$ so you don't have to go to court. Should be somewhere between $200-300.

Although my friend got one a few months ago going 77 in a 55 and he had to pay over $300.

Good luck man

You have to go to court???? Wow i thought only and only if you contest the ticket then you go to court. Other than that you're supposed to see the fine on the ticket and either mail or go to a DMV and pay the ticket. Well for Hawaii its about $18 per mile over posted speed limit.

Damn Faust biggrin.gif i almost got caught like 5 times this week too kindasad.gif

I don't know how California is, but in Illinois, if your ticket gets marked "notice to appear," you get to pay court fees too. The ticket is only like $75 but the court fees will get you. Luckily, your first ticket doesn't get marked with a notice to appear (around here. Maybe up north cops are different. Down here, cops are cool, they just get really bored and pull you over for no reason.)

wouldnt u wanna go to court and talk to the prosecutor and pay more money but get no points? this way your insurance doesn't go up. That would prob be a 2 point ticket here in nj.

You can access a pdf on the court site or ca dmv site listing california vehicle codes (cvc's) and how much the ticket will approximately cost you.

Sucks brother, but glad you didn't get into a sh**hole.

Take it easy on that pedal brother!

Yeah, it is only going to be 1 point at the most. Because I was caught doing over a 100mph at one time in my Eclipse in a 45mph zone, but the cop did knock it down to 75 on the ticket, so I wasn't double over. He clocked me at 80, but I went up to 100 after he clocked me. Got traffic school and no fine. That was odd.

What about "court supervision"? Thats where you're kinda on " probation" for a bit pf time-go to "traffic class". Costs about 75-100 $ more, but keeps your record clean & insurance doesn't go up!?

Ticket got sent in the mail so I am assuming no court for me. It was around what i expected. I said $250, it came to $263. No mention of points, so I am good.
