I missed the price, but I have to say there are some cheap ones. This one's cheap too, compared to the other ones at 2-3k. Not sure if it's any good though.

am i the only one who noticed the a beams engine on ebay with tranny, axles, fuel pump, ecu, harness, shifter & cables, pass side mount (for you ST owners).. the works for $699? (link here).
i wanted to post it here but i thought posting ebay FS threads are frowned upon... i would've bought it if i didn't have tuition fees to pay for.. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

^ Somebody jump on that...or loan me 700. THAT is so awesome, I would love to have a BEAMS swap. Much more than a 3S-GTE.

^^ i was originally going to buy that when it was 1500, however they will rape u on shipping charges, from cali to TN IIRC was600 quoted.
I told them not so nice words, that one is missing the afm and also the elbow of the intake, which has the vacuum sensor attached, so it may not have it, also does not have the box. All these engines come with 15to 30 day start up, but it will take you longer to collect all pieces, so they know this and you are screwed. You want an engine, talk to jHOT in texas, they will get you a plug and play engine (complete) all you got to do is wiring... all these cheap engines are good replacement engines, to have and sell the parts you dont need. in the long run hunting pieces is more of a hassle, talking from experience. It took me almost 5 weeks to get the vvti sensor, and then i had to get the afm and the intake (aftermarket) after pm the sellers, until i found one close to 3 inches. so be careful when you buy, cheap is not always better!!!! -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... Unfortunately there is a saying and it goes something like this: "You get exactly what you pay for" and unfortunately that saying is true and when its too good to be true then we all know how that goes.
Embarking on an engine build and or swap on your own is challenging especially if you have never done it before. Many engines may look complete and then you end up missing parts that are either hard to replace or too expensive to replace. Engine should cost you around 2500. A 700 engine will run like 700 dollar engine. Shipping is expensive but same goes for anything to do with a car. Shipping a carbon fibre hood that weighs nothing costs as much as the hood itself. Shipping bodykit that weighs nothing is as much as bodykit itself. Engine is a bulky item that also weighs a ton. Most people do not factor that when they purchase it from someone. I am no expert on shipping but lets say that you were shipping one from New Hampshire to lets say New Mexico. Freight companies can ship your things but who will crate it up for you to fit their standarts? How much would it cost to deliver to shipping company (because they dont just drive to you with a front end loader or a forklift), how much would it cost to ship and how much would it cost for someone to pick it up and deliver and drop off your engine... and what if its dead on arrival? So including shipping your engine should cost about 3000 -------------------- Captain Pessimist

yes I agree. There are noticeably cheap engines on nengun auctions, but just as some members said pay for the cheap engines and you'll get missing parts that are vital to your engine swap. So far I've only found about 2 engines on ebay that are worth buying, one is listed for $3000 which I think is way too much. And they are both marked at $2,000 or higher. There are also other beams engine on other websites, you just have to do your searching around.
oh and reason for prices dropping in general is due to the poor economy! government's fault and people that spent money that they didnt have. am I allowed to say that? There are many outlets to buy engines from. A quick trip to a junkyard and a hard to find totaled MR2 could yield 3s, a trip to a broker and a purchase of of jdm clip from overseas could yield one among other things. Challenge is to find a good engine that has not been abused by previous owner and preferably in one piece.
