my car shudders on acceleration. it's quite noticeable through the steering wheel but passengers hardly feel it. my car is going to the shop tomorrow and i think i'll get them to check for bad mounts.

questions:

what should i ask them to check? i.e "can you check the motor mounts?" or "why is my shuddering on acceleration?"
what can i expect as a diagnosis? i.e. "the mounts are bad you're fokked!" or "don't worry, they all do that!"
how much can this cost? in other words have any of you had this job done?

any insight or comments on a possible motor/tranny mount replacement job would be real helpful here.

thanks

ray

I'd go with "why is my car shuddering on acceleration". I doubt it's your motor mounts though (and if it is, that's an easy repair. A few labor hours though, so not cheap, but not terribly difficult).

Does it shudder on heavy acceleration, like when you're accelerating from a stop, or does it do it every time you accelerate?

When's the last time you changed your spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor?

Hey GG, long time....
changed all that when i bought the car in '05 with NGKs and generic (UAP) wires and cap...should i go OEM or high-end?. it's mostly on heavy acceleration, from a stop, kicking it down for a pass or an on-ramp.

will post results later. in the mean-time wish me luck on my MVI...i hope they don't look too closely at the rusty doors kindasad.gif .

I had the acceleration problem recently. Start looking at replacing your CV drive axles.

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...hl=acceleration

When the inner cv joint goes bad, it vibrates. Outer joints click.

If you wanted to check for yourself its really easy to have a look at both the front and rear motor mounts to be sure its not them, those are most likely to go first. A quick look with a flashlight can reveal if they are busted out.

No, it looks like a hooker put her acid vag on your hood. Acid vag = bigger problem than a few dings.
