I had my axles replaced (front) last week and finally got the car back on Wednesday. Well I drove home and parked it for the night. Drove to work next morning and parked (about a 45 min ride one way). When I got out of work I moved my car and noticed a good size leak (about a 1/4 cup) on the ground. Drove the car home and saw another leak forming when I parked it. I got it up on jacks and noticed the axle seal was drenched and srayed oil all over the place. I drove the car back to the mechanics for repair which they said it was in fact the axle seal (block side).

Question - Did I do any damage to my new axle??? from the leak?

Just to make you feel better.... I swapped in my new axle last weekend. Drove around all week, only to find a very similar oil leak coming from my axle seal and my tranny making funny noises.!
FML

You didnt damage your axle. Its just the seal inside that needs to be replaced.

I think they're hard to get any day. My mech had to order it from the dealer and even they had to order it.

autozone is usually your best bet, your axle is fine, those seals can be damaged easily, sloppy install or removal of the axles usually is all it takes, just keep up on your fluid levels so u dnt blow your tranny.

Get the axles seals from the dealer. When i had this leak when i changed my axles, every autopart store carried the wrong seal for our cars, and if the part number is used throughout the states, then they are all wrong. I tried carquest, auto zone, advance discount, and napa.

Save yourselves the headache! go to toyota!

No, it looks like a hooker put her acid vag on your hood. Acid vag = bigger problem than a few dings.

Got the leak fixed. Cost me $26 from Toyota and my mech warrantied the work with no more leaks!! My car has been in the shop for almost 6 weeks (head work, exhuast work, axles, ball joints, suspension, etc) minus a day here and a day there. I've finally gotten it out now for good. Very happy.
