Seems to be very difficult to find this engine as a clip, plus I'm in Canada.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Google? I'm sure SOMEONE in Canada imports motors, since people are importing GT-Fours.

Bonzai, wow I was at that site and didn't notice this.

I've been drooling over the pics for a while and looking at the price. 3200 then 1400 to ship , then i have to ship again from one side of Canada to the other, im guessing 600 would be good deal for this. Up to 5400. From here im i'd like to replace all hard to reach parts , timing etc. and inspect and fix what may need attention. Even If im not paying for labor of installing this , im thinking this will be easily cost 8k. Thats with no cosmetic.

Does this sound high or ?

I'm wondering because I see the real GT4's going for 10-12k

You would be better off to just get the GT Four.
If you're interested I've got a great guy here in Calgary that will help you find your dream GT Four.

PM me; I'll get you his details.

So why do people do the swaps?
Is it because they couldn't be imported? I'm not really sure about the Canadian importing laws with right hand drive vehicles. But I thought I just recently read something about it being legal now except for Quebec.
Or maybe they just want to do it themselves?
Or they save a bunch of money by collecting the parts needed ?

Kaos, I will PM you when I decide on what to do with my current celica. Kills me to let it go , lol

until recently it was next to impossible to get a gt-four in the states, so the only options were to turbo your existing engine, or do a swap.

i would just get a gt-four - no headache for the swap AND it has all wheel drive. (and probably the nicer climate control too)

In Canada there is a law that states an imported vehicle must be 15 years of age before it can be legally registered. This year marks 15 years for the 1994 GT-Fours, before that we could only import the engines. Now that we can get the whole car, already assembled, its totally worth it just to get the car and not have to worry about getting the wiring harness redid or the chance of a damaged engine in freight.

I feel you on the current celica tho; I want to get rid of mine too in order to make room in my garage for the future GT-Four, but I've just spend so much blood, sweat & tears on it. It'll be hard to let it go...
