so my celi's sunroof has been leaking water on me every time it rains. i removed the headliner and cleaned the drains out. did some water draining tests and everything looks good. the question i have though is since i have the headliner totally out of the car and im a dumbass smoker, it would be nice if i could give it a good cleaning. it doesnt have any cigarette burns which is good but it is pretty stained looking on the drivers side. im guessing from smoke residue, but again no burns. so besides quit smoking, does anybody know a safe way of cleaning it without scrubbing the felt off or otherwise making it look worse?

Try the carpet cleaning products that they have for cars. Also, try steam cleaning it.

Yeah, get an auto uphostlry cleaner. If you still have a stain or something, you can try to re-dye it. Im getting ready to take mine out and clean it, then dye it black. Shouldnt be that hard

I used ScotchGard upholstery cleaner shortly after I purchased my car from a smoker, worked great; smoke and pop stains both removed.

Hey, sent you a PM. I gotta say, removal of the headliner for a hatch should be cake, try it in a coupe. I think im gonna have to bring it in from the trunk? As far as the moonroof liner, that thing sucks, I didnt drop my sunroof assy all the way, left the front bolts in. But it might be easier to remove the whole thing, then pull out the liner. Dunno, gonna consult the BGB later.

Yeah, the dyeing it part....didnt turn out as good as I would of wanted it...real grey, even after a second application. So I let it dry up, and then used the duplicolor fabric spray, using the grey as a base coat. It came out ok, still need to go in and tough it up a bit. The spray wasnt that bad, left the headliner a bit still, but thats ok cause im not really rubbing my hands on it all day or anything. I think that if I were to recomend repurposing a headliner to anyone, id say get some good spray glue and some nice fabric. Spray and then roll.
