Hello 6gc,

as many of you may know, there are 6 plugs that enter the cabin of our sixth gens when doing a 3sgte swap. Three of them plug straight into the ECU, with the remaining white, light grey, and dark grey ones connecting the the chassis harnesses. Toyota calls these three plugs II1, II2, and IJ1 respectively. In order to get the 3sgte to start with a functioning clutch switch, you need to move the black #18 wire from the white plug (II1), to the #17 spot on the dark grey plug (IJ1).

Hopefully that's enough context. On to my issue:

While I was moving the aforementioned wire between connectors, I noticed that my 1994 GT4 wiring manual had the white and light grey plugs labeled reverse of what my 1999 wiring diagrams were saying!

in other words:

1994 GT4 manual: white = II2 light grey = II1
1999 st204 manual: white = II1 light grey =II2

IJ1 is the same between the two manuals.

The actual connectors on my 3sgte harness match what the 1999 st204 manual is saying. This made things confusing because both manuals were consistent with their labeling throughout the diagrams. So it's not isolated to one page in either manual...

I'm thinking that the 1994 naming convention is simply a typo in what is essentially a first draft manual. . . has anyone else run into this????

It's most likely a typo. I noticed a few other small mistakes in the diagrams before.

Thanks lagos,

I'm constantly second guessing my work and finding this sure wasn't helping things. Now I'll be able to sleep at night haha
