Having a hard time getting in your car? Door doesn't open up enough? I was wondering if using a longer gas strut and either cuting the mounting tab off or tapping and re-threading the mount a bit higher would work. i don't see why not, and i know this company that makes custom gas struts any strength, length and stroke. Anybody know how powerful the gas struts are?

The struts are strong, if you don't take them off before you take the hinges off your car then you will see this. I couldn't close mine for the first couple days with out really leaning in to it. The only problem that I see about cutting the mounting tab off or tapping and re-threading is if there would be enough room inside the fender.
