I would like to pick up a lightweight battery for auto-x this year, as I can't put the battery where i want under scca rules.

does anyone have experience with the braille or odyssey lightweights or have other suggestions? i've even heard of people using motorcycle batteries, i think.

any input helps!

What class will you run? If you are in STS they allow battery relocation..

I would use an oddesey battery.. and have a jump box when autocrossing.. that way you will follow the rules.. and still have a lightweight battery

Then put back your regular battery..after the race

i'll be in sts. according to the rulebook, the battery cannot be relocated inside the passenger compartment. i was planning to take my back seat out and mount it on the passenger side, in front of the rear wheel, to offset some of my weight, but backseat's gotta stay too.

i really don't want to put it in the trunk, because the only good place for it would be right in front of the jack stowage. i frequently carry my bike and guitar stuff in the car, and that gt4 brace stole enough of my cargo room!

i don't plan on using the light battery year-round, the cca seem to be awfully low on them. if someone knows of a lightweight that will handle michigan winters, speak up!

thanks for the input, jdg!

they'll start the car just fine in warm weather, but you'll end up screwed at some point if you live in a cold weather climate.

Im using an oddessy dry cell under the drivers seat, 440 cca i think it is. Runs it fine, but doesnt like heaps of drain when sitting, eg while tuning with the car off (ign on obviously) with a inverter to run a laptop charger drained it pretty quick, but if the car is runnings fine.
