If that's the same as the Camry V6, then there are people that have done that. I personally know nothing about the emissions compatibility. Do a search and you should be able to find something though.

It runs on the CoilOnPlug (cop) setup, plus there's the transponder issue for security if your planning to run the stock ECU (reflash to remove the code at a dealership is possible). Overall, those motors have the best emissions if your running the stock ECU. It should fit, although the wiring will be a bit of a pain. Are you going to swap everything over or just the motor and run aftermarket ECU? It eats only premium fuel, but it rides like a champ especially with VVT-i.

In response to the concern about the immobilizer function in the ECM, you won't be able to reflash the ECM to bypass the transponder code, there is no function for erasing the code in the Toyota TIS system. On later models you can recode it in the event you lost all your master keys, but on the earlier models with immobilizer systems you need to replace the whole ECM if you loose all your keys. I'm sure Toyota would not be paying to replace ECM's if there were a way to recode them or erase the coding.

I'm not 100% sure how the transponder system works but I believe there is a receiver around the key ring that needs to read the immobilizer chip in the key and communicates that to the ECM. They do make Immobilizer bypass modules intended for remote start systems, but I guess you'd need the receiver around the ignition too...??

I'm Not sure about toyotas, but on the Newer Hondas, you can get the code removed or reflashed. A friend of mine did it on his 02' SI with the RSX-Type S engine swap to make his keys work with the type-s ECU. Cost 'em only $100 at the dealership.

(other than the last part where I said I'm not 100% sure) I'm very sure you can't remove the immobilizer coding, especially on the early models.
