well, my car has been sitting for half a year. my dad and i just got it running again yesterday after completely rebuilding the motor because one of the rings spun on the arm of the piston. now, whenever i turn on the air, it kills my rpms and tries to kill the car completely. any ideas of what the problem might be?

the first thing i would do is test the charging system, make sure that alternator is putting out the right voltage.

When you turn on the air, is your air conditioner on?

You absolutely want to test the alternator and make sure it's putting out the correct voltage and continuity

if i turn it on, it gets cold as hell like normal, it's just that my rpms drop. if i didn't have the right voltage wouldn't my subs or the car itself have already drained the battery?

either way, id atleast test the alternator, and have the battery tested to see if it has a bad cell, or if it even has the cca required.

Does this happen at idle in neutral only, while driving, or when?

Hold a steady 2000 rpm in neutral and turn the AC on without moving your foot. What happens?

somthing is up with your a/c idle up valve.
its either not working, or not hooked up properly.
