ok well the easiest way to remove your intake manifold on the 3sgte is to remove the throttle body first and then valve cover! trust me ive done this like 10 times!!! and ive tried every way, i think this way is the easiest and best way to reach and get to all the nuts and bolts!
so here is the first picture: ![]() there is a total of 10 bolts to remove and they are all 12mm..so i say get a extention with a long or short 12mm socket and rachet. first remove the 2 bolts that go into the valve cover...then if u look u can see the the 4 bolts on the sides simply take those off too..once the black coupling and throttle body cable is off just remove 4 other bolts.. ![]() if u look at this angle u will see 3 hoses and 2 clips. the 1big hose is for the IAC and the 2 others are coolant hoses..once u unclip and remove these hoses just simply carefully take your throttle body off..... ![]() ok now once u got the throttle body off just move the hoses and clips somewhere safe.. for the valve cover there is like 11 10mm bolts.. easy enough.. just unscrew all of them..u can either pull them out or just leave them on there..if u do leave them on there just make sure that none of them are still screwed in. ![]() ok now your woundering wow i got all the screws off why wont it come out...if u look at the wiring harness and the black plastic piece where the timing belt is there is 2 more 10mm bolts just unscrew and lift up and your good to go.. ![]() ![]() there u go almost there!.. alright that you have room..look where the injectors are...there is 3-12mm bolts just simply just get a small hand rachet and a short 12mm socket and unscrew..make sure u have a plastic bag for the injectors bolts..i say this cause once u remove those bolts u can lift up the injector rail and if u can see in the picture there is 3 spacers where the bolts screwed into..take those out and place them in the plastic bag as well dont lose them ok. now that u got the injector rail loose lift up the rail and remove it to the side..make sure its safe and that the injectors arent rune or anything. ![]() so now that the injector rail is out of the way u have all the space in the world to get to the 5 hardest bolts ![]() ![]() ![]() ok now that your this far just simply get the small racket with a short 12mm socket..and remove the 2 bolts and 1 nut. in the middle..alright i didnt get a picture of the other 2 side bolts but the best way to get to those are to use a extention and small racket..ok now that u got the hardest bolts off u can go underneath the car and use a 3/8 racket with a short 12mm socket and remove the last 2 bolts under the intake manifold. once u get that far go back up infront of the car and take off any hoses and clips that are still attach to the intake manifold. now standing up top i say standing on the passenger side grab the intake manifold and pull back then up and from there just simply carefully wiggly up the manifold..its easiest to have a second person there so u can have him or her help move clips and hoses so it will be easier to lift up the manifold and take it out... after that your engine should look like this ![]() ok there u go a how to remove your intake manifold.. ![]() and please add to it if i forgot something.. -------------------- ![]() |
