Hi , this is my first post and I'm looking to buy a Celica in the somewhat near future and was wondering if there are problems that celicas are known for like my bfs G35 coupe has the axle click and is notorious with AT.
Helps please , Thanks ![]() heres a pic of me ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by HelloMegan: Jun 3, 2009 - 8:28 PM |

Welcome!
There is no real problems with 6gc's. They last a long time once they have been taken care of. Just look for one that looks and performs as if it was well maintained and you'll be golden! ![]() -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

if unmaintained, alot can go wrong, like valve seals, rod bearings, etc. nothing should be wrong if the oil was changed on time, timing belt/waterpump replaced on schedule, etc. there's also things that just plain wear out, like axles, motor mounts, etc. those things fail with the age of these cars and the amount of miles thats on most of them.
keep in mind these cars are between 10-15 years old, so do expect to be replacing some things when you just get it to have it running top notch. -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

i may be able to find you a hello kitty sticker, dunno about a trd hello kitty one.
useless fact, i'm selling my celi soon, but i'm in japan. helpful fact, i've only had the clutch go out, but that's my fault for putting a bad one on in the first place. oh, and ball joints, but again, my fault. didn't replace them when i removed them before. other than that, no problems and no leaks. btw, sounds wonderful with an exhaust on it. something to add to your list. final word... post a pic of yourself thread. so you can see what we look like ![]() -------------------- ~Andy

I honestly don't know of any problems, these cars hang with the best as long as everything is maintained. Just inspect the vehicle to make sure it was maintained properly and you're cherry.

My Celi's in good condition... I'll spray it white for you and trade for the Supra... LOL.
Welcome, and I know its difficult and stressful but with time you will find what you are looking for. It just depends on your price point and the specifics you are looking for. This is in no way meant to discourage you because I assume you have more cash and aren't as picky as me but it took me nearly a year to find my current car. My specifics were: Honda or Toyota (reliability), 1994 or newer (didn't want an ancient car), Manual transmission (I like driving), 125,000 miles or LESS (didn't want high mileage), Under $3,000 (price point), Good condition (didn't want a car that was beaten and needed a lot of work). With all that in mind it took me about 8 months to find my current car. 1995 Toyota Celica GT Hatchback, Manual, 124,500 Miles, $2600 cash. The car came with every available option except a sunroof, and some that weren't like an alarm. I don't know what kind of money your looking to spend but recently I saw a white Celi on E-bay. It was a 1999 with I believe under 30,000 miles but they were asking close to 10k for it. Edit: Heres's one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GT-CONVERTI...%3A1|240%3A1318 I think that's the one I saw earlier. Like I said you can find what you're looking for but it depends on how picky you are and how much you're willing to spend. Welcome to the best website for our cars and happy hunting. I've had some issues, but they are entirely related to being not so well maintained by the previous owner.
If you peruse other car forums from the mid/late 90's... you will find ALOT of "wow my car stopped working!" posts, and while there will inevitibally be some here, they are not so common. Lately I've been seeing more "I totalled my car" more than "my car wont start"... |

Nice MkIV you bf has!
Only thing that seems to go bad is the CV axels. Otherwise, just look for the regular stuff like any leaks, rust ect. That you might find on a 10+ year old car. -------------------- |

oo no that Supra isnt my Bfs , my bf owns the Red G35 coupe.. lol but no i dont have much money, most i would pay for is 5k (have to pay for own car), and i want the newest one which would be a 99
my only pickiness is -white -nice toyota wheels -somewhat good interior * change the driverseat to bride ^-^ -somewhat good mileage -good body - if it were to be a convertible, the top has to be in really good condition without the hazy window This post has been edited by HelloMegan: Jun 4, 2009 - 1:06 PM |

ripping of cv boots is normal in ff cars. Otherwise good car of course the name toyota means quality. havent had any problems yet since ive had it. mine has 115,000 miles on it.
i heard that the st celica the 1.8 ltre have a slight chance in throwing a rod at around 150,000 miles. whether this is true or not i do not know.... This post has been edited by BonzaiCelica: Jun 4, 2009 - 2:58 PM -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts
